Supermodel Dies After Nine Story Plunge

A Kazakh supermodel who appeared on the cover of Vogue and Elle magazines fell to her death from the ninth floor of her apartment building in lower Manhattan yesterday afternoon.

Ruslana Korshunova, 20, was found on Water Street in the Financial District wearing jeans and a tank top, and witnesses, including one who spoke to diaday.com, say they heard a loud noise and then discovered that a body lay in the middle of the street. One witness tells TMZ that he originally thought the woman had been hit by a car.

Cops say they are investigating the incident.

31. Some articles have said her balcony did project out a ways. There was also protective construction netting around it at the time that appears to have been cut through. Unfortunately, it sounds like this poor girl did it to herself. She was beautiful and a good writer as evidenced by some of her postings on line about looking for love, etc. She sounded lonely.

33. To me, whats truely sad and awful is the fact more than one person died tragically in NY the same day. We dont hear about them....perhaps they were older, less attractive, didnt take a good picture or gasp....had a BMI over 16.5. Yes its too bad that she saw suicide (if it was) as the only solution but come on peeps....lets save our sorrow for things that truely matter.

34. To land in the street takes a horizontal component of acelleration. She did not provide this by herself! SHE HAD HELP ! If not, she would have landed very near the building. Still, tragic for her and her family and friends. Worse if it was not by her own plan.

36. This is tragically sad news. But why, oh why, do people assume that beautiful people aren't capable or allowed to feel sad, anguish, hopelessness etc??? As they say, beauty is only skin deep...it is what is inside that makes a person who they are and if this was a suicide, obviously she was suffering from anguish we may never know or understand. Beauty has nothing to do with it!

38. poor girl, she was probably just so wrapped up in the industry, at such a young age. just a young kid.. its a shame. RIP, you will be remembered and i pray that god will comfort her friends and family and i'm sure shes in a better place.

ps- TMZ, you are every essence of whats wrong in the media, and in our country. when something like this happens, show some sympathy and stop treating everything like a money indulgence.
