"Scrubs" Star To Kid: See Ya Next Weekend!

Victory for a "Scrubs" star today in court -- John C. McGinley won more time with his kid.

McGinley asked the judge for more visitation -- currently he sees his kid every other weekend. His ex, Lauren Lambert, begged to object, claiming it would be traumatic to shuffle their 10-year-old son Max back and forth too much. Max has Down Syndrome.

Lauren broke down in tears after the judge saw it John's way. John will get Max an extra night every other week.

You'll recall, there was a big thing earlier this year. TMZ broke the story that John wanted to slash child support in half during the writer's strike. He backed off after we ran our story.

16. I guess it depends on the change for the child. I know with some children, simply entering a different door at school can wreak havoc on their whole day. I am sure because it is just a day extension it will be fine just a little adjustment. Honestly though, little changes to their routine CAN ruin a DS or Child with Autism.

17. Max is not so different from any typical kid. Seeing his dad an extra day wont "ruin him", it is a misperception that kids with DS cant adjust to changes in their routine. And it is always a good thing for any kid to have TWO parents who adore them and want to spend time with them.

I don't care how much you dislike a person. The kid does come first and should not have to be uprooted to see a parent. A child with a disability or challenged should be able to stay in their comfort zone for the non custodial parent to visit. Posted at 5:57PM on Jun 30th 2008 by Anna

that is simply ridiculous. My daughter has DS, and is also 10. Please dont assign disability where you dont know for a fact it exists. Max seems very happy and well-adjusted, Im sure he, like my daughter, would greatly enjoy time with his Daddy, wherever that happens. It is views like this that promote ableism, that somehow having DS makes a kid completely a mess. It simply isnt so.

angela says: yea cause another day with his father is going to ruin his day[being sarcastic] but seriously read when you type. Dont be ridiculous Johnny C. is a great father obviously, because if he wasn't he would not be trying to extend his visitation rights, but thats besides the point I'm trying to make.My point is don't put people with DS in a group like if one person acts one way with DS another child also acts like that also.I'm pretty sure if Johnny C. new that another day with his son would be SO "traumatic" he would work around it because he loves Max and was in [scrubs]to be near Max. He has a sixth month old daughter that doesn't have DS and is still fighting to see Max[who has DS], sounds like a real deadbeat to me[being sarcastic].I'm just trying to say John C. McGinley aka Dr.Cox isn't like all dads and/or celebrity dads,he cares about Max enough to fight for him, and if you can't see that then your the motha flippen deadbeat. I never ment to offend any one writing this but the truth has to be told.

angela says: Yea, because TMZ has an effect on what choices John C. McGinley makes in his life[being sarcastic].But seriously,if he decides he needs to cut child support because he was not working and his [ex-wife]wants to bitch about it[not judging her, but TMZ made it seem like thats what you were doing.]Let her bitch, because all she is doing is making her look like a [greedy bitch] read between the lines.[she bitches about child support payment but wont let her son see his father for an extra day]she really is making her self look bad.
