Carnage in the TMZ

We've covered the nightlife in the Thirty Mile Zone for three years -- but sometimes the club scene goes terribly, terribly wrong.

Our cameras began rolling around 2:30 AM, moments after an unidentified woman was smashed into by an SUV outside of STK and left motionless in the street as the allegedly boozed up driver sped off -- unaware of the bloody disaster she left in her wake.

As the suspect drove away, the victim's boyfriend chased down the SUV and pulled the driver out of the car. The confrontation is the most powerful, emotional exchange we've ever caught on tape.

LAPD tells us a girl was arrested for felony hit and run and DUI. We're told the victim suffered a broken pelvis, but she'll be fine.

UPDATE: The driver of the car -- who sources confirm is the girl we got on camera afterwards -- registered a .17 blood alcohol content. Legal limit in California is .08.

3. I applaud the boyfriend getting the drunk off the road, but after he got her out of the car, he obviously wasn't alone and it would have been nice if he had gone back to comfort his injured girlfriend rather than hugging the drunk driver...

5. That is great this dude stopped the car that hit his girlfriend BUT it was obvious that there were enough witnesses to keep her from driving off...he lingered a little too long then hugging on her and holding her hand when ou would think once there were others around to contain her, he should have immeidately ran down to see how his girlfriend was!

6. This is awful, the boyfriend was really brave. I'd have had to have been restrained from punching her. My prayers go out to the victim

7. Wow , the boyfriend kept it together, he almsort lost it but didn't, don't be to hard on him, he was in shock.. maybe deep inside he was afraid to go back, afraid she was dead then who knows what would have happened. He handled everything fine, I'm SURE he hasn't left her side at the hospital. Take it easy on him. I hope she's going to be all right.

8. Based on the hug between the two, the boyfriend will probably dump his girlfriend and end up with drunk girl. Don't you usually comfort the victim in this case?

9. That scumbag gangsta' wannabe was totally trying to grope the driver.

If I was her I would've maced him.

Feeling her up and everything while his girlfriend was dying.

What kind of creepy scumbag does that?

Posted at 9:46AM on Jul 2nd 2008 by Boyfriend was totally hitting on the driver of the SUV!!!

10. Wheww, what a very disturbing video!!! Hopefully the young girl will be ok and the young girl that hit her well, her life will never be the same. This video really hurts my heart and I am so sorry for everyone involved!

Tmz, this video should be shown repeatedly to High Schools and Colleges across America!

13. What an amazing young man he is. To show such compassion to the driver was unbelievable.

Posted at 9:50AM on Jul 2nd 2008 by hello, it's me

14. First, I hope the young woman who was hit recovers from the accident with no long term injuries, and best wishes to her for a quick recovery.
Secondly, kudos to the boyfriend for keeping his temper and handling the situation in a mature and responsible way.
The whole scene could have become so much worse. You can see how distraught he obviously was, yet he managed to hold it together. I'm not sure if that was because of the cameras being there or what, but again, he handled it better than 95% of others might have.
As far as the drunk driver goes, I have nothing but contempt.
