Carnage in the TMZ

We've covered the nightlife in the Thirty Mile Zone for three years -- but sometimes the club scene goes terribly, terribly wrong.

Our cameras began rolling around 2:30 AM, moments after an unidentified woman was smashed into by an SUV outside of STK and left motionless in the street as the allegedly boozed up driver sped off -- unaware of the bloody disaster she left in her wake.

As the suspect drove away, the victim's boyfriend chased down the SUV and pulled the driver out of the car. The confrontation is the most powerful, emotional exchange we've ever caught on tape.

LAPD tells us a girl was arrested for felony hit and run and DUI. We're told the victim suffered a broken pelvis, but she'll be fine.

UPDATE: The driver of the car -- who sources confirm is the girl we got on camera afterwards -- registered a .17 blood alcohol content. Legal limit in California is .08.

32. for those of you making comments the boyfriend and the drunk driver you are sick! He was trying to keep a drunk from being on the road and making sure she was accountable and did not go on and hurst someone else. He was amazing in how he kept it together. He was talking about his girlfriend the entire time. What did you expect for him to beat her up? That would not have solved anything. I agree with the person who said show this to all new drivers to show the impact of drunk driving.

35. Wow! Amazing footage. How truly tragic, and that young man was very special indeed. He seems like a great guy! Drinking and driving just isn't worth it, take a cab!

36. WHAT AN ASS!!! I hope the girl that was hit dumps this loser and sues the driver!!! After he chased down the driver and hugged and loved on her and saying he wasn't mad and it was a mistake, yadda yadda. He had NO idea the condition his girlfriend was in and she could have been dying on the ground while he "played" for the camera! DUI is NOT a mistake, it is a choice and it is a crime. WHAT A LOSER!!! The driver and the boyfriend deserve each other.

38. The boyfriend is totally forgiving! He must be wasted too, but this is how people should act, he could have slaped the bitch out but he didn't! Props to him for not kicking her ass. I hope the girlfrined is ok now, and as for the groping the DUI chick, I think it was more like he wanted to keep her at the scene not touch her goodies!

39. I agree with the people who commented early on: there were people there to restrain the hit-and-run driver. Given that he kept mentioning his "lady," he wasn't so out of his mind that he wasn't thinking of her. I kept waiting for a moment where the light would go off in his head that he needed to get back to her and let his friend take care of it. Instead, he stood there doing a dramatic screen test and hanging on to the drunk driver. Maybe this was more about him being a vigilante hero than sticking up for his injured girl. When the injured woman was loaded into the ambulance, it wasn't her supposed boyfriend who was there holding her purse, talking to her and comforting her.

Sorry, it's a sad day when we have to congratulate a witness for not punching out the woman, even if she was wrong and he was a supposed boyfriend. Since when is it okay to punch someone who has committed a crime? If a cop had chased her and pulled her over, yanked her out and punched her, it would be called police brutality.

41. I feel sorry for that girl that got hit. How horrible it must be to have such an annoying boyfriend!

42. Oh my god that's awful! You have to keep us informed on how the girl that got hit is doing. I hope she's ok. I hate stupid people who think it's ok to get drunk and drive their cars.

43. 31. Does anyone on this post think it's possible that this whole thing was staged? I mean, what man is going to hug and hold hands with a "drunk" driver after their girlfriend was just hit by this person? Eventhough the driver appeared to be upset and crying, I did not see one tear on her face. Perhaps, this was all staged in an effort to show people that they should not drink and drive. After all, this town is known for make believe. Just sayin'.

45. This is one of the best TMZ videos and after the driver sobers up she'll probably have her attorney take it down.

I hope she gets to watch this and both of their lives have been changed forever!
