Carnage in the TMZ

We've covered the nightlife in the Thirty Mile Zone for three years -- but sometimes the club scene goes terribly, terribly wrong.

Our cameras began rolling around 2:30 AM, moments after an unidentified woman was smashed into by an SUV outside of STK and left motionless in the street as the allegedly boozed up driver sped off -- unaware of the bloody disaster she left in her wake.

As the suspect drove away, the victim's boyfriend chased down the SUV and pulled the driver out of the car. The confrontation is the most powerful, emotional exchange we've ever caught on tape.

LAPD tells us a girl was arrested for felony hit and run and DUI. We're told the victim suffered a broken pelvis, but she'll be fine.

UPDATE: The driver of the car -- who sources confirm is the girl we got on camera afterwards -- registered a .17 blood alcohol content. Legal limit in California is .08.

62. Way to go TMZ for your reporting. It will make it so much easier to get a conviction with that video evidence.
I hope we get part 2 where that stupid drunk driver gets handcuffed by cops.

63. With all the comments on here regarding the boyfriend comforting the hit and run driver, all I have got to say is this....when you are pumped full of adrenaline, you are not in your right mind. So, you don't know what you would do if that ever happened to you. The boyfriend looked like he was comforting the driver because she was drunk for one, and for two, she seemed like she did not know she even ran over anybody. Plus, if you have any experience with drunk people, you should know that if you don't keep them calm, then there is no telling what that driver would have done. If the boyfriend went off on her, she probably would have tried her best to run away. Instead, she finally realized what she did, and didn't run away. And, the boyfriend said that there were other people over there with his girlfriend. If he was the only person with her, then I don't think he would have ran down the hit and run driver. Plus, he just seems like a very nice guy. Like he said....people make mistakes, and she just made a very BIG mistake!! When are people going to get it in their heads to not drink and drive?? Hopefully, that girl learned her lesson this time, even though it could have cost somebody their lives!

66. I don't think the guy is hitting on the drunk driver, I think the opposite. She is following him around looking for forgivness while he's trying to deal with it. It looks like there is only one other witness with the boyfriend so I think he was doing the right thing by containing her. I hope the GF is ok, and sues the drunk for everything she's got

68. You people saying the drunk driver should be shot are SICK. What if she is a mother???? Also, the guy did the right thing by not kicking her *ss. What would that have done??

70. He was not comforting the driunk driver. She was sloppy drunk and hanging all over him. He was trying to contain her so she wouldn't take off on foot or worse yet, get back behind the wheel. She was so drunk she didn't even know she had hit anyone even after he pointed out the damage to her car. There may have been other witnesses around, but I didn't see anyone else jumping to get involved. All the paps cared about was the story. He told the driver he needed to be back with his girl and she didn't get it at all. I'm sure when he started chasing the SUV, he had no idea who the driver waa. For some to suggest his motive was to hit on the girl is ridiculous.

71. if this girl was really that drunk @ STK shouldn't they also be held accountable?

72. If that had been a guy driving there would have been a totally different ending to this video

73. ooh, normally that boyfriend would be a little too young and skeexy for me, but he was TOTALLY cool . . .
1. He chased the drunk driver down instead of letting them get away.
2. Upon finding it was female drunk driver, did not bashe her face in as I would have wanted to.

Guy was in shock himself -- alternating between controlled rage and compassion for a young, scared girl who did something horrible.

As for leaving his girlfriend behind: it was obvious that he knew he had left her in good hands: an ambulance had been called to the scene: the people around her were guarding her and not moving her . . .she seemed unconscious or unresponsive so he didn't even know if she had been killed or not. (And perhaps they had just met at the club so they didn't have a serious relationship or something . . .)

Another person chasing down that drunk hit and run driver may have been a whole lot less motivated to keep Drunkie out of her car (did you see him blocking the door; she kept making moves as if she wanted to get back in and drive away) --- and without him, Drunkie may have gotten away with it.

KUDOS to him: and I hope his girlfriend is alright. Severe jail time of all drunk drivers -- EVEN on their first offense!!

75. Damn...the girl who drove off is lucky that the girl's boyfriend was such a down to earth guy because she could've gotten her ass kicked bad with this type of adrenaline pumpin'! Wow TMZ...finally something good has come from all the lives you've tried to destroy. Good job!
