They were born in Michigan, but they moved to Compton when they were very young, and that is where they came of age ... it's also where their step-sisterwas shot to death. I think the majority of our people are oppressed, and come from "Ghetto" neighborhoods. Of course there are the lucky exceptions, but generally black folk in THIS country are impoverished, and stil segregated on the sly. Pretending these problems don't exist doesn't help anything. We ask for equality, but are too proud to admit we NEED it, more than want it. I understand what you're saying. No one should assume all black people are from ghettoes, but blacks also shouldn't be ashamed of having come from them. There is no harm in admitting these women came from a ghetto. That doesn't define who they are. What they made of themselves, and where they got themselves in life, is all we should go by. They come from the ghetto, but they themselves are not "ghetto". That's something to celebrate!!!!!
