Mormons Slam Calendar's Missionary Position

7/10/2008 3:45 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Who knew a bunch of shirtless Mormon hunks could lead to so much drama?! Don't get your magic underwear in a bunch!
Mormon Docs: Click to read
TMZ has obtained a letter sent to Chad Hardy, the Mormon creator of the steamy Men on a Mission calendar, by the LDS church -- threatening disfellowship or excommunication for "conduct unbecoming a member." Coincidence? Chad thinks not.

Hot Mormons: Click to launchHardy tells TMZ he believes he's being targeted for the 12-monther -- but admits he doesn't attend church meetings or pay his tithing. He also believes his repentance will include closing up shop on the calendar, which he ain't ready to do. Save me Joseph Smith!

For their part the Church refuses to comment on the whole thing, "out of respect for the member himself."

We're guessing they won't like his next idea either -- Mormon Muffins: A Taste of Motherhood.

UPDATE: On July 13, Chad Hardy was officially excommunicated for "conduct unbecoming a member of the church."

Watch September Dawn and see how you feel about Mormons. Gives a different perspective of Donny and Marie.

If he was serious and in good standing, or whatever they call it, he wouldn't be going shirtless, or creating a shirtless calendar. He's no Mormon. Fake Mormon calendar.

They go shirtless when they go swimming, and women apparently don't wear their garments while dancing on cheezy TV shows.

aren't the Mormon's the group of people who marry/sleep with 12 year old girls and have like 10 wives?? you'd think a shirtless calendar wouldn't be an issue for them

This guy is misrepresenting the Mormon Faith and should be excommunicated. September Dawn isn't even an accurate account. Check your sources. You also have to take into account that "Mormon's" are humans, and they make mistakes just like the rest of us. What religion is OJ Simpson? Are people going to stop believing just because he, as one singular person, is a murderer? No! So just because a "Mormon" does something wrong it doesn't make the religion itself wrong. Visit http://www.lds.org for accurate infornation.

Firstly..
That calendar is totally tacky,

Secondly...
Calling temple garments "magic underwear" is childish and offensive.

Thirdly...
You really truly need to mind your own business. This website is for CELEBRITY gossip and news, not reporting that some guy might get dis fellowshipped from church! That's just something that is between him and his bishop.

No, Mormons do not marry 12 year olds. That is the FLDS church. Please educate yourselves on a subject before commenting. http://mormon.org

dubba, if someone in the LDS church married and slept with a 12 year old they would most likely be excommunicated for breaking the law.
Same if they had 10 wives.

You must have the LDS church confused with someone else. Why don't you go check your facts out?

I used to be LDS and this is a scare tactic they use to keep their members in line. The LDS authorities in SLC to not like any controversy at all. One woman was excommunicated because she was shown on TV attending a ERA parade. I feel sorry for members of that faith - they live in constant fear. I know from personal experience.

Mormonism is a cult whose members are pressured into wearing special underwear day and night - in effect, the morg tells its members Your Ass Is Mine.

Mormon church leaders are a particularly nasty and intrusive group who collect 10% of the members' income and who grill them about their sex practises, both teens and even married adults.

This is highly ironic, considering their founder practised both polygamy and polyandry. He "married" teens behind his wife's back and sent married men on overseas missions so he could "marry" their wives.

Don't let anyone fool you!
Mormonism only masquerades as a family church while practising cult rituals in their temples which are closed to the public.

There the members swear away their lives to the Mormon church, promising to build it up and give all they have - even their own lives if necessary.

I should know - I've been there. But I got myself and my family out of Mormonism, and they're still stalking us.

Thank you for that comment Bryce Wilcox.

Can I just add something.

There is a lot of ignorance when it comes to our church. Now, I don't expect everyone to be fully educated on the teachings of the LDS church if they aren't a member, but sometimes I hear stupid polygamist jokes or comments about magic underwear and I get really pissed off.

People, don't make jokes or act like you are intelligent by saying things if you don't know for sure that they are true.

Trust me, the jokes about polygamy aren't funny because polygamy ended over 100 years ago. Those jokes just make you look kind of ...well, stupid and ignorant. Everyone knows polygamy is against US laws, and if a church as large as the LDS church was still practicing it, there would most likely be lots of arrests and/or raids, similar to what happened to people in the FLDS church.

Before people go too crazy with their inaccurate beliefs about the "Mormons," please know that Warren Jeffs and the rest of the FLDS church have nothing whatsoever to do with this man's religion. They are not the same. This man's religion also does not allow polygamy or sleeping with "12 year old girls." Like stated above, check out www.lds.org to get the accurate version of what the church believes.

As for the "Magic Underwear" comment . . . a bit tacky and uncalled for. Not that TMZ is known for its maturity.
