Mormons Slam Calendar's Missionary Position

Who knew a bunch of shirtless Mormon hunks could lead to so much drama?! Don't get your magic underwear in a bunch!
Mormon Docs: Click to read
TMZ has obtained a letter sent to Chad Hardy, the Mormon creator of the steamy Men on a Mission calendar, by the LDS church -- threatening disfellowship or excommunication for "conduct unbecoming a member." Coincidence? Chad thinks not.

Hot Mormons: Click to launchHardy tells TMZ he believes he's being targeted for the 12-monther -- but admits he doesn't attend church meetings or pay his tithing. He also believes his repentance will include closing up shop on the calendar, which he ain't ready to do. Save me Joseph Smith!

For their part the Church refuses to comment on the whole thing, "out of respect for the member himself."

We're guessing they won't like his next idea either -- Mormon Muffins: A Taste of Motherhood.

UPDATE: On July 13, Chad Hardy was officially excommunicated for "conduct unbecoming a member of the church."

46. This is just Mormon bashing. Since when did TMZ switch from celebrity news to bashing religion? Which religion/race/sex/nationality will TMZ bash next? We can visit the gazillion other celebrity websites instead of you. In fact, I think I will. Click.

47. I'm a non-Mormon woman who finds these guys attractive. The Mormon lifestyle of maintaining healthy bodies and avoiding caffiene has sure paid off for these men!

The LDS made a mistake by kicking them out as they might have attracted myself and other male-appreciating women to their flock. Or at least cause the LDS to look a bit better to the rest of the world. I realize that the recent scandals concerning underage brides had to do with the FLDS, not the mainstream LDS. But that kind of publicity is not good for anything even remotely Mormon. It will take years for them to live the scandals down, and even then some of us will always wonder about that religion. Why do you think that Mitt Romney didn't get the Republican nomination? He may have been a decent candidate, but no one could get past his religion. Even many who shared his values did not vote for the man. They knew that he could not win.

49. Just me: as is so often the case people tend to believe that everyone is capable of what they do, or that everyone believes what they believe. As a member of the LDS Church for 40 years I can state with absolute truth I have never lived a moment of fear. I imagine that if you did it was because you knew your lifestyle choices were not compatible with church standards. That would be your fear, no one else's. If anything, this church will set you free from the slipped standards of the world. You'll live longer too & be healthier. Those are proven facts.

50. No one is trying to "push their religion" on anyone. The pp's were merely providing a website address where accurate information about the LDS church may be obtained. I am not sure where many of these idiotic statements about the Mormons are coming from, but it clearly is not from accurate research or intelligence for that matter. Mormons are good people who have a firm belief in God and the teachings of Christ. They believe in living clean lives focused on family and decency, something most people in this country are severely lacking.

51. I don't get it. How do any of you guys "know" about what the mormons believe. It seems that you guys are just filled with animosity...

Mormons are wonderful people. Their church leaders encourage them to be moral people and uphold the law. The Mormon religion is the third largest religion in North America. Secret service members, CIA, FBI, and etc. are Mormons not only because of their strong work ethic, but because of their moral standards.

Mormonism isn't "restrictive", it is simply choice. If a person wants to not believe in what their religion believes in, it's okay.
The church leaders aren't angry about that. It's just if they do something considered morally wrong that calls for something more serious. The ultimate thing that people don't know about Mormonism is that Mormons believe that God condemned Satan to hell because Satan wanted to take away people's choice and agency. Choice is a huge thing in the Mormon religion.

Mormons and the FLDS church are very different. After most natural disasters, the Mormon church is first on the case before most organized aid societies. They also donate millions of dollars to the government for humanitarian aid. The FLDS church doesn't do that. Mormons only practiced polygamy 200 years ago because in Nauvoo many men and boys were killed by dissenters and Joseph Smith, a moral man that was also killed by dissenters, wanted the women to have a man to take care of them when they started their journey to Salt Lake. After reaching Salt Lake, it is clear to all of us that polygamy was quickly abolished. Now what church that cares about its members, strives to uphold the law, treats everyone with respect, is concerned about moral standards, and donates millions to the homeless and hungry is considered a cult? What other church is that involved and actually cares that much?

Temples are simply a place of worship, not cult serivces. And how would any of us know? A person has to be morally worthy to enter the temple, and it sounds that most people here that have been ticking off about the LDS church aren't worthy. They wear white clothes to show respect to Jesus Christ, not to practice wicca cult rituals. Cult rituals...that even sounds ridiculous. They don't swear their lives away to the church like Catholic Nuns, they simply declare loyalty to Hevenly Father and Jesus Christ.

And come on, you can't expect Mormons to be perfect. They can be stuck-up. But sometimes all of us can. They are only human. I bet you wouldn't be able to tell a Mormon from a non-Mormon if you sat down and talked with both of them. And why all the hate? Because people simply don't know that much about them?

Anti-Mormon literature is written by dissenters mostly, and thus people can bet an extremely one-sided view of things. I'd suggest learning about the Mormons. They are much more normal than you think.

52. This guy is misrepresenting the Mormon Faith and should be excommunicated....What religion is OJ Simpson? Are people going to stop believing just because he, as one singular person, is a murderer? No! So just because a "Mormon" does something wrong it doesn't make the religion itself wrong.

12. No, Mormons do not marry 12 year olds. That is the FLDS church. Please educate yourselves on a subject before commenting. http://mormon.org

Uh, wndrwmn...OJ was found not guilty. Please educate yourself. Or, as they say, don't throw stones.

53. The LDS church disapproves of the calander, huh? Well, since they view the body as a wicked temptation which should be covered from neck to ankles; their members wear special "undergarments" to further cover the body and discourage wantonness; they admonish sex before marriage; sex during marriage is solely for the purpose of procreating. It is not to be indulged in more often than necessary, and is NEVER to be enjoyed; they believe it is a sin to have intercourse while pregnant or menstruating; Mormons are bathed in the belief that masturbation will lead to hell... and the list goes on. I'm really not surprised they object to the calander.

54. The LDS church is classified as a cult! Where else can a guy get his own planed and women to populate it with? These are usually good people but they have faith in a REALLY GOOFY idea of God and the universe! That is truly " the pearl of great price"

55. i am LDS and would never buy this calender. i think this guy is out for a quick buck.

57. The LDS Church never seems to learn that by taking action against it's members for little crap like this makes them look more bizarre and give the person free publicity.

58. "Pearls before swine," people. It's obvious that some people are on here to simply spread misinformation or to try to justify their own sinful lifestyles. The information on these comments about what occurs in the temple is just laughable. The comment about finding the truth about the church by reading from anti-Mormon websites makes about as much sense as asking a disgruntled ex-wife about her ex-husband's positive qualities. All I can say is I am thrilled to be a member of the LDS church (which is not the FLDS church). I willingly give 10% of my income because God commands it (see the Bible), it helps the needy, and I'm blessed by doing so. I attend the temple to obtain about 2 hours of peace from the hectic world and to make sacred covenants with my Father in Heaven. I've been to Catholic masses where I felt they were more ritualized that what occurs in an LDS temple. And no one has ever asked about the details of my sex life in any church interview I've ever had.

At any rate, this is the way it's supposed to be. As time goes on, this "peculiar people" will seem more and more peculiar in the eyes of the world. Let's just leave the religion bashing alone for a while. This guy (remember the story??) deserves to be tried and counseled by his church leaders. If he's disfellowshipped or ex'd, he'll be welcomed back with open arms when he's ready to make positive changes. None of us are perfect -- I know I'm not. Can we just play nice for a while?

59. Do what you want. We all have free agency. Just don't don't bring the church into it. He even admits not being an active "Mormon". Why use the name in your Calendar? Publicity is all. He is playing the church and the public. The church is asking for the meeting out of respect for him and the church.

And y'all should learn about "Mormons" from Mormons. Not haters or the Media.

Would you get info on how to fix your car from someone who hates cars?

Take Care,
