Mormons Slam Calendar's Missionary Position

7/10/2008 3:45 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Who knew a bunch of shirtless Mormon hunks could lead to so much drama?! Don't get your magic underwear in a bunch!
Mormon Docs: Click to read
TMZ has obtained a letter sent to Chad Hardy, the Mormon creator of the steamy Men on a Mission calendar, by the LDS church -- threatening disfellowship or excommunication for "conduct unbecoming a member." Coincidence? Chad thinks not.

Hot Mormons: Click to launchHardy tells TMZ he believes he's being targeted for the 12-monther -- but admits he doesn't attend church meetings or pay his tithing. He also believes his repentance will include closing up shop on the calendar, which he ain't ready to do. Save me Joseph Smith!

For their part the Church refuses to comment on the whole thing, "out of respect for the member himself."

We're guessing they won't like his next idea either -- Mormon Muffins: A Taste of Motherhood.

UPDATE: On July 13, Chad Hardy was officially excommunicated for "conduct unbecoming a member of the church."

Your 13 million is an inflated number because they count inactives and keep people on the books for 110 years.

Moreover, the actual activity rate in Mormonism is only 30%.
In Euope it is only 15% and they are closing up buildings.

That means 70% of Mormons don't even show up but are still counted.

The Mormon church is playing a game of smoke and mirrors to make itself look bigger than it actually is. An old business trick.

Visit exmormon.org if you want to find out what a freak show the LDS (no, I'm not talking about the FLDS, I'm talking about "mainline" Mormonism) is.

This is unbelievable!!! I can't believe how rude and disrespectful people are. No one cares if you are a mormon or not. That is your choice. But why does everyone have to be so rude and hateful? This is why America is falling apart. There is no respect for each other, for any reason.

As you can clearly tell by post #13., one of the requirements to be a Mormon is to have no sense of humor or fun what so ever. My sister went to the 'boring side' after she got married to Mormon. She became as bland and boring and self righteous as her husband. She is unrecognizable in spirit and physically too.
They have so many rules and do's and don'ts. Forget about making plans on a Sunday as 'church' lasts 4 hours and they go when they are told to go. They go in shifts.
So funny that they are all up in arms about the calendar...no one ever knew it existed til it pissed them off and now it gets press.
Lighten up JOE SMITH-alikes. You are in a cult. You need to make your own rules and live your own lives.
No matter how main stream you think you are you are a bunch of sheep.

you LDS need to check your story. Joseph Smith had over 30 wives, some of which were married to other men at the time that he married them. he promised salvation to their families in exchange for wives and many of the wives testified that they had sexual relations with Joseph. www.wivesofjosephsmith.org from someone from your own church. joseph was a pedophile and an adulterer. the calendar doesn't seem so bad to me compared to your disgusting "prophet"

Mormons don't always wear their garments. For example, when swimming or when competing in a celebrity D-List dance contest.

I'm not going to take a stand for or against Mormonism. I will only say that religion is not a democracy. There are rules you've got to follow if you want to be a Catholic, Mormon, Pentecostal, etc. If you don't like the rules, then you can choose to follow them and keep your mouth shut OR you can leave the faith. Bellyaching about it only makes you look like a fool.

Mormons/LDS are not the same thing as the FLDS, just like the Catholics are the same as the Lutherans. The LDS church holds its members, especially those that have gone on their missions to hold certain standards and the reason for the alleged letter, though I would guess more is happening than meets the "eye." I am ex-mormon and I still smell a rat and do not for a moment believe the Church sent the letter for only the calendar.

#66 you are full of crap regarding this comment: 66. If Mormons don't live in fear -

Don't show up at church for a couple of Sundays and see what happens

-Show open sympathy toward gay/lesbian causes and see what happens

My sister welcomed an actively homosexual male into her home when it became clear that his only other option was the street. She said "yes" without hesitation. Out of respect for her generosity and hospitality, he met all of his dates outside of the home so as not to risk any discomfort on her part. And yes, she absolutely knew of his preference. She remains in church standing and remains in very high regard. Please don't lie simply because you think it might support your cause.

If this guy received a "letter", he did something more than pose for a poster, but then that should be obvious since he made a point of showing the media the letter.

I remain an ex-mormon after requesting removal of my name from the rolls of the church.

To Bryce Wilcox:

So we have learned from reading your post you have been brainwashed as well. I have seen that the Mormon religion has done to family and friends. Mormon/Latter Day Saints, whatever you want to call it, is a damn cult. Explain to me this... why the hell does everyone Mormon stockpile 2 years worth of non-perishable food in their basement, in case the apocalypse happens? Do you think you are special because you are going to get to a higher level of heaven? And you sick freaks think it is hilarious to baptize non-believers after their death.

I don't give a damn if you are LDS, FLDS, you are all in a cult. Wake the hell up!

I am amazed by all the lies people actually spread about the LDS Church all the while thinking their own beliefs superior. If you want to find out about the Mormon Church, go to LDS.org then visit exmormon.org, the truth is in between. Just as other churches have become more sane over time, so too has the LDS Church. The Catholics no longer have vatican 1, but now vatican 2 and there is never a word said. The Baptists no longer believe that blacks should be slaves and said so in the late 1970's, but you don't see people ranting about racist Baptists. All religions especially Christian ones are nuts and begin with all believing that a virgin gave birth. If that isn't a clue, you are equally as nuts.

The Church doesn't threaten you for modeling, though I know this young man wants you to believe that. The Church will not defend itself since it considers this a private matter. But, the fact remains you don't get tossed for modeling.

I too and ex-mormon

I see the [B]Morg has come to the defense of its Cult once agin. While they're offering websites full of deceitful information, best you also check out the disturbing, sad and horrible experiences from ex-members or those who have never ever been members. The Morg wants you to believe its all about family but its really all about Guilt and Control. Try reading the Salt Lake Tribune commentaries (sltrib.com) or worse, the Mormon rag, the Deseret News oline. Want the truth - see www.exmormon.org.

I agree with Dobbie

Wow, Countrygirl, you sound really dumb by saying that just because the church encourages emergency preparedness that they are a CULT...are you crazy? People all over the USA stockpile food for emergency preparedness regardless of what religion they belong to. And no, they don't believe an apocolypse is upon them...it's for any sort of emergency that happens - fire, flood, tornado, earthquake...wow...double your dosage and have a great day!

exmormondotorg is filled with loads of paragraphs full of elipses meant to skip over vital information. I am happily ex-lds but will not stand for flat out lies. The truth can be found by using a combination of exmo ldsdotorg and researching full text over clipped paragraphs.
