A bar in Illinois that dared to call itself "Cheers" is getting the legal 86 from the folks that cooked up the show.

According to the lawsuit, the bar is using the exact same name and logo as the "Cheers" bars all over the country ... which are licensed by CBS. You'd have to have the mental capacity of Woody Boyd to jack the signature sign like these people did and not think CBS would come after you.

Maybe it's all over for the Illinois "Cheers" anyway -- a call to the bar said that the phone had been disconnected.

17. I've been to the bar, sorry to see it close-was pretty decent. I always wondered if they got permission to use the name and same logo.

18. First off let me say that I live in town here where the bar is, I have been there once and it wasn't the greatest, just a hole in the wall place, but wasn't bad. CBS should have done a little more research because this bar has been opened since 1993....and they are just now deciding to sue? How stupid! I do however believe it is still opened, after it was opened in 1993 it closed and new people bought it, last I knew it was still open unless it closed because of recent events. Oh and just for those who are confused, Cheers was on NBC, it was by Paramount and CBS bought the rights to Paramount......therefore that is why CBS is suing now.

21. The only real Cheers bar is in Boston and there are 2 of them. One on Beacon Hill is where the entrance is is used in the Cheers show and one at Faneuil Hall at Quincy Market. Both places are pretty cool but the one on Beacon Hill has so much Cheers merchandise on the upper floor that any fan would enjoy visiting there if they were in Boston.

23. There is a cheers in Ft. lauderdale on NE 59th st. My Aunt worked there for about 17 years.
