90210's Ahn-drea Choked Up in Cahn-ada

In case you were wondering where Gabrielle Carteris -- the woman who played 30-something teen Andrea Zuckerman on "Beverly Hills 90210" -- disappeared to, try a Canadian courtroom.
Read the docs
Carteris, 47, says she was left with a partially paralyzed face and severely injured neck, face, jaw, and back after filming a choking scene for the TV movie "Past Tense" back in 2006 -- and says it was all the crew and producers' fault. She pulled out of the film as a result of the incident.

Carteris filed the suit last week in Canada after a court in California had previously tossed out the case saying she was barking up the wrong jurisdiction. Lawyers for the one of the defendants claim it's a workers' comp issue, not a civil court issue.

16. HELLO-
Crews are not the same in Canada, (although they believe they are- because they have nothing to compare themselves to...)
*the comment by Mary clearly shows she works in Canada and has not worked outside that part-time, play school joke of a film town.
They do NOT have the same Union rules we have in Los Angeles because their Unions are either Non existant or Lax.!
Half the crews have other jobs and DO NOT work in this business full time to warrant such attitude.
The Canadian Crew makes about 1/2 of what someone in Los Angeles would make, which is why they are hired in the first place. To save money, NOT to make a good film is the only reason why Canada even has a film business
IT IS cheaper to film in Ca-Na-Da not only because of the Tax breaks... but ALSO because the CREW is CHEAP!
You get what you pay for in Can-Na-Da!
To read this as an Actor in Los Angeles for 30+ years is unbelievable!
To not have a safety meeting or a stunt double is insane and would NEVER happen in Los Angeles.
I hope she gets double for what she is suing for, and I hope this teaches all the cheap, production hacks out there that there are consequences for "cutting" corners and filming in a dreaded place like BC!
Stef and BH know what they speak of-
I stopped working in Canada more than 10 years ago, it's not worth it after watching what goes on up there.

17. Worker's comp my arse. I hope she wins.

Ms. Carteris appeared in NYC circa 1998 at the Bridal Expo. She was gracious and polite to everyone who stopped at her booth, a true pro.

The director and others on this set should have insisted on simulating choking, not damaging the hired talent, for Pete's sake. Of course the producers are civilly liable.

18. Not even gonna argue with you !!??-read my post again-I didn't reveal any medical info, I simply stated GC bought glasses tht weren't reimbursed. I didn't tell you if they were for a medical condition. And no, HIPPA did not apply 15 years ago. The point of my story was that she was extremely rude because her glasses were not covered under her insurance by her hubby's policy or her screen actor's policy. She was on a hit TV show at the time and complaining about a few hundred dollars that were not covered. I'm a person who feels that I'm paying a lot for medical insurance, I'm using it-I agree with her there but this was a specific exclusion-nothing that I could do about it but she didn't want to hear it. Didn't want to hear how she could appeal the decision, nothing. Just rude, rude, rude. Again, I think she has a totally legit case here and hope she wins. Her injuries, I assume are life long. Saw her on 'ET' a few months ago and her story was horrible. (and just an FYI, after working for that insurnace co for 12+ years I left and went to another where we all signed confidentiality agreements-I don't work there anymore but to this day have not told anyone about any 'juicy' files I handled and I DID handle some good ones! I also volunteered for AOL and typed for celebrity chats-had to sign a confidentiality agreement there too which I couldn't imagine how it would apply to me for simply typing for live celeb chats but believe me, it did! Found out some really good gossipy stuff directly from celebs!)

19. Gabriella is lucky the scene did not call for a "pile drive" like in pro wrestling.
(a pile drive is where one person holds the other person upside down and slams their head into the floor)

20. #15 shocked,,,,,,,,,,Why give such a rude angry response to Mary, sounds like what she had to say hit a nerve, she is allowed to have a different opinion than you without you namecalling, putting down the city of Vancouver and trying to convince everybody that you are right. As for Canadian crews working part time at other jobs, probably 95% of all actors worked at other jobs until they made it in the industry.
