Celebrity Justice
Susan Atkins -- Denied

Susan AtlkinsBrain cancer won't get you an early release from prison, not if you're Susan Atkins.

The California parole board denied the application for release by the jailed Manson follower. Atkins, who was diagnosed with brain cancer and may have only six months to live, had applied for Compassionate Release Consideration.

The L.A. County D.A. argued against it, saying, "[Atkins] has failed to demonstrate genuine remorse and lacks insight and understanding of the gravity of her crimes."

Atkins received the death penalty but it was commuted to life after the California death penalty was ruled unconstitutional.

32. The amount of hate on this topic is over the top. She's got brain cancer and has only months to live. Keeping her in prison accomplishes nothing.

33. This woman actually feels bad for what she did. And I'm sure there are many people who feel bad for her, sher was a young girl who was taken in by man who gave her drugs and was her god. Although she doesn't have much time to live she was invoved in taking several lives. She doesn't deserve to get out of jail. Originally she got death: well I guess justice is happening!

34. It accomplishes punishment fitting the crime. She remorselessly murdered and assisted in the murdering of multiple people. I only wish that all criminals actually received the punishment that was required instead of 32 minute justice. Boo hoo she is dying of brain cancer. How much boo hooing did she actually give for the victims from her own hand? Oh, none according to her parole officers.

35. Brain tumor, can't communicate, leg amputated, other entire side paralized, but I bet her mind is still sharp. What goes around comes around, Karma will get you every time. Its payback time. May ALL her victims Rest in Peace. She is rotting in her own hell on earth, can't get any better than that.

39. Reminds me of the the lone 911 terrorist who wanted the death penalty so he could be a martyr.. The judge in his wisdom gives him what for by giving him life in solitary with the admonision,"I hope you love Allah because he's all you'll have left for the rest of your life"...

40. Compassionate release? What compassion did she show Sharon Tate. Tate begged for the life of her unborn child. Atkins slit her open, murdered Tate and her baby, her and wrote "Pig" in Tate's blood. Atkins got all the compassion she deserves. I hope her death from brain cancer is, long, drawn out, and painful.

45. Anyone who has any doubt whether this murderer should be released - just google the crime scene photos and see in living color what they did to innocent people. Susan was shown mercy in 1972 when they repealed the death penalty and she was given the opportunity to earn college degrees on taxpayers' money. Virginia Graham said it best - they all find Jesus in jail. Glad to see the government listened to the people for once. The victims' families have to re-live this crap every time one of the Family comes up for parole.
