Actors Tased, Pepper Sprayed ..."N" Word Used

Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Wright, who were arrested this past weekend at a Shreveport, La. bar, were pepper sprayed and tased by cops. And, we're told, police went on a vulgar rant -- and portions were caught on cell phone video.

The incident occurred during a wrap party for Oliver Stone's movie "W" about the Prez. Local station KTBS reports and TMZ sources say Wright, who plays Colin Powell, was repeatedly tasered and pepper sprayed as he lay prone on his stomach in the street. We know witnesses heard the officers using extremely foul language, including the "N" word, directed at Wright.

Our sources say Brolin was observed by witnesses attempting to make peace and standing still as he was repeatedly sprayed in the eyes by cops.

The city attorney has not decided whether to file criminal charges against Brolin, Wright or the others for interfering with a police officer.

46. Sarah: So, according to your opinion of the way the world should work, anyone who says something you don't like or anyone who has an opinion that differs from yours or the one you think is correct should simply NOT be allowed to state that opinion, right? So, who died and gave YOU the right to decide who should speak and who should not? It just makes me grit my teeth everytime I hear one of these so called "enlightened" individuals say that people who don't think like them should be silenced. What a freakin' hypocrite you are Sarah. Free speech means FREE SPEECH. Not just free speech YOU LIKE. Learn to be tolerant or at least prepare a better argument than the one you so vociferously oppose. It is not illegal (yet) to hate ideas or the people that come up with them. Just because you think you're fair doesn't mean everyone will be. You can't FORCE people to think like you do. That was tried by Hitler, Mussolini, Lenin, Castro, Hussein and a plethora of others, all failed at it, miserably.

47. #33, Figures: You sound just like someone who has had a few run ins with police and now regards them with disdain. Or perhaps you still don't understand that actors and other famous people have to abide by the law too. It's CERTAINLY not "outrageous" that cops pepper sprayed a couple of drunks who wouldn't cooperate and hauled their asses to jail. No one should be upset by that, happens all the time, especially when idiots get drunk and act like fools. Since all we have is heresay evidence from alleged witnesses who are probably biased anyway how can you know for sure the police did ANYTHING wrong? By the way, since you think this great country "sucks", why don't you investigate the possibility of taking up residence in some country whose police tactics are more on par with what you think is "fair"? I can't imagine where that might be, since America probably has some of the fairest, most generous police officals in the world. Try getting drunk and acting a fool in, say, ANY MUSLIM COUNTRY. Since drinking alcohol is a mortal sin in Islam, being snockered in public could get you a few years in a dirty, smelly, rat infested Arab prison. Or worse. You think about that.

49. #27, Freestufffff (OK, so you run a two bit website) Please very calmly head to the medicine cabinet and get your meds down and take them. Apparently you have been off them now for a while. Where do you live, an isolated mountain compound in North Dakota? Big cache of weapons in your basement vault? Hmmm...OK, maybe you were being cynical...but, if not, whew! I mean, day-um dude!

50. #10, "The Voice of Reason" (great big ole smile): Tell me, exactly WHO is WE? Because if you mean US, I've NEVER had a police officer treat me badly, hit me, throw something at me, tase me, shoot me, curse at me or anything else that these cops ALLEGEDLY did. I used to think that was because I've never done anything to warrant such treatment, whether or not you condone it or believe it happened. But, since being enlightened by all these cop haters, I now realize that it's just because I'm white. Oh yeah, now I get it.

51. Well said @ #27: . Local police forces are low-level CIA outposts. The same CIA that flooded the ghetto with heroin, blew Kennedy's head off, and demolished the World Trade Center. CIA is a continuation of the Third Reich, and has been run by the Bush crime syndicate from the beginning. They seized control of the US long ago. Thought you knew.

52. I used to live in Shreveport..I also used to live in Marshall Texas which is only 25 minutes from there.. It is where they filmed " The Great Debaters" In the last month-6 weeks in the countryside of Nesbitt Texas near Shreveport 2 local African America churches have been vandalized by the KKK. this is not new behavior for this region. However unacceptable, we are dealing with people that chose not to advance by any means necessary.

56. Hey, guys/gals, no sense arguing with closed minds. Won't do any good nor will name calling. And generalizing about any segment of the population is at best, ignorant. And blanket statements are asinine.

Having said that, I don't have a clue what really happened since I wasn't there and neither were any of you.

What I DO know that is that I've known women that were married to cops that were abused, cheated on and worse. The divorce rate is unreal. And the talk among them (the cops) can be beyond ugly and demeaning to anyone but themselves - major power trips which, unfortunately, can and is taken out on their families and peeps they don't even know when off duty. I also have friends that were - honestly - treated like they were Manson for a minor offense. And yes, I'm talking minor stuff, not murder.

Also, I am generalizing with some of the above, but not much, because I know for a fact the actual incidences mentioned are true. I also know two good, decent, family guy type cops. Great dudes with super families. So, keep an open mind and everyone will benefit. Especially you.

58. Shreveport cops are just racist thugs! The "armpit of louisiana" is indeed the stereotypical small, trashy southern town filled with redneck Barney fife's. The film industry has been helping out the gulf states post-katrina to put money in th economy by filming there.

Why people posting here think this is okay because the victims were celebrities is beyond me, but as it goes, no good deed goes unpunished! Myabe the film industry should takes it's money elsewhere. The cops are the real criminals. Excessive force is so commonplace now that tazing is considered "normal". This just shows how hyper-right-wing aggressive the religious right has driven the U.S.to becoming. Might makes right and anything goes is you can claim any "authority" to excuse your own behavior. These cops shoudl be fired and criminally charged. At the very least they provoked and esculated the situation just to get in a few cracks, to up the ante and inflate the charges so their victims would have to pay higher fines to Shreveport.

maybe the feds need to step in and clean up the corruption in these towns.

60. If, and I'm very sceptical, this story is true, - where's the "cell phone video" to prove it. I'm very sure the actors' friends and film crew will say whatever they can to get their boys off.
