Rampage: Terror Outside the Ring

Turns out, if local news had run the Rampage Jackson car chase live, it could have gotten Super Bowl ratings because it was one of the craziest chases on record, causing pedestrians to "flee for their lives."

As TMZ first reported, the just-defeated UFC champ was busted yesterday afternoon for alleged felony hit and run. Now we have the details -- and they're insane! Rampage was on the 55 Freeway in the O.C., hit two cars and got off the freeway. The chase was on.

Rampage then began driving on the center divider. But it gets worse. According to the police report, Jackson then drove on the sidewalk, "causing pedestrians to flee for their lives." He started driving the wrong way on a crowded street, colliding with yet another car in an intersection. As he continued on, running several red lights, his tire disintegrated and he began driving on the rim.

Rampage eventually got to the exclusive Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, where he again drove on the sidewalk, "causing pedestrians to flee in terror."

Eventually, his car came to a stop and he was taken into custody at gunpoint. Cops took him to the Orange County Jail, but they determined he was "medically unfit" to be booked. Cops won't say if he was high.

Rampage is currently in an O.C. hospital.

17. Just plain stupid! Remember, if you're going to try and outrun the cops, don't use Toyo tires. What a loser!!!

19. I think he will be on "Worlds' Most Dangerous Car Chases". When my family lived in Lawndale (not far from LAX), we heard sirens, turned on the tv. and there was a car chase, RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR DOOR... We lived on Hawthorne Blvd. That was scary!!! I live in the OC, but not in Newport Beach. That must have been TERRIFYING for any pedestrians that had to move quickly out of his way... I hope he gets the help he needs...

20. I think he's gonna get a major suspension from the UFC for this. At least 1 year, min. If not more. They don't like their fighters bringing any bad press on them.

23. He's not well in the head, a given for the profession he's chosen(and apparently sucks at!); But I'll wager he didn't get man-handled by the cops that arrested him, no matter how goofy he acted! Once they established what he was capable of, they probably spoke to him in a very calm and respectful fashion...much the way they treated the two guys who robbed the bank in North Hollywood some years back after they figured out that they were under-gunned!!! Peace through superior firepower, LOL

25. I was on the 55 today as "Rampage" tore through us as if we didn't matter. I was front-row center to the potential carnage. He almost killed me and my friend. Then we got to watch in shock and horror as he displayed total disregard for human life. The 2nd car he hit???? Guess what.....It carried a pregnant woman on the way to a funeral. The tone of the writing about this incident makes a mockery of how truly serious and potentailly life changing his rampage was and could have been. He struck the first two cars at FULL SPEED while driving up the left shoulder of a freeway. This is serious. It was awful to witness. And, frankly, he is lucky that lives weren't lost. He didn't just 'hit' two cars, he literally plowed into them as if he were part of a monster truck show. And once he hit them (including hitting the Escalade with the pregnant woman inside twice!), he kept going across multiple lanes of traffic risking more lives. Then he led the police on a high-speed chase through an area with many pedestrians/bicyclists. Look at the picture of him lying prone on the ground during his arrest. Notice the red truck next to his huge monster truck? That should give you some sense of scale around how big and destructive his vehicle was. When he hit the Escalade, it went up in the air and landed, upright, but totally perpendicualr to its original position. When it landed, it was in his way, so he hit it again. Unbelievable. Please report any future updates with language and tone that match the seriousness of what he did, the destruction he caused, and the genuine fear he created in his victims and the witnesses of today's events.

26. This sucks. Jackson has become one of my favorite athletes. I can't remember being so disapointed in a sports figure. I thought he was a champ in and out of the octagon. I think it's obvious that drinking and or drugs are involved. I have a hard time understanding why he did this. The guy put so many lives at risk and didn't care enough to stop when he should of.

Good luck to Jackson's victims. Looks like Forrest is my new favorite athlete,

27. This is for who the hell are you to judge-Yes people make mistakes, some much bigger than others. So he's not in the spotlight for negative behavior all the time. Looks like the spotlight he'll be in this once will probably be enough to make up for it. Regardless of why he did it, allowing for the fact that it could have been and still could be some kind of undisclosed medical problem behind it, for every action there is still a reaction and he is still in the WRONG!!! If he had killed someone while driving like this they would still be DEAD!!! The only difference would be that if it was medical related and not to be helped on his part the charge might would possibly be reduced to manslaughter instead of murder but the fact that he was driving erratically, endangering others, any sane jury would still convict him of such as the facts are the facts. Make no MISTAKE about it. Also, the part of everyone playing the race card on this and everything else including the presidential race is sickening. People voting for Hillary because she is a woman, people voting for Barach because he is black, NOT, he is half black and half white. Why not vote for the person qualified, not the gender or the color. Why not vote for him because he is half white? Haven't even heard anyone make this remark. We know Hillary wears the pants in her family so why not vote for her because she is the ruling head of her house. The only head that is used for thinking anyway but that is another subject entirely as we all know only too well. Get off the race card. Everyone bleeds red!!! If this had been a white man that struck a black pregnant woman you would all be screaming lock him up. Seems to me the people who worry about the injustice of the race issue all the time and screaming about it are the racists themselves coming from the green in them all-JEALOUSY- Nuff said!!!

29. He is a total disgrace to the UFC. First crying about a "controversial lose" to Forrest Griffin; and now a felony hit and run, and fleeing from the police. Gotta make Dana White just cringed at the thought of having to bail out his recent Light-Heavyweight Champ! Not good publicity for the UFC, with all the negative publicity it already gets from liberal punks!

30. I love how TMZ jumps all over the crazy UFC fighter on a "rampage." Saying pedestrians "ran for their lives in terror," was that in the police report? Running for their lives in terror? Seems more like a colorful account of a crazy black man's unfortunate situation. The police won't say if he was high? Didn't they book him on a number of charges? Why wasn't one of them suspition of DUI? Use your heads TMZ.
