Race War Leaves Hasselbeck in Tears

We haven't really been paying close attention to "The View" since Rosie left -- but if Whoopi Goldberg keeps making Elisabeth Hasselbeck cry over the use of the N-word, we'll tune in more often.

16. I love how EH paints herself as some sort of victim here (boo-hoo) "...this is hard for me..." She seems to do that whenever she's getting bulldozed. Turning on the waterworks is the only way she knows how to get people to take her seriously.

17. Elizabeth Hasselbeck is just an obnoxious little brat who cries when things don't go her way. How she ever got this job is still a mystery to me. While she doesn't live in the same world as the rest of us, but her world does sound like a nice place to visit.

18. "5. Elisabeth is a jerk...she thinks she is always right and makes herself look like a fool. did ya see Barbara's face...her and Whoppi are getting plenty sick of her!

You're calling Elizabeth a jerk when Whoopie's the one defending the N word? Lmao. I might disagree with Elizabeth on some issues, but here she's spot on.

And Whoopie is basically trying to divide not bring people together. She's saying we (whites / blacks) live on "different worlds" and should act like it ... yea so I guess you support segregation as well? Blah, idiots ...

19. The problem is EH doesn't know when to shut up, the N word is so controversial, for her to pretend to understand it and then debate it is a lost cause. I usually don't agree with her but I didn't think her comments were too off base today, but Whoopi isn't going to agree with her on this subject. As for Whoopi's mother not getting to vote in this country, how old is her mother, I have seen pictures of her and she isn't that old and she was born here, drop the African American title and call yourself an American, Whoopi is very liberal but she has made a fortune, yes she has probably faced discrimination along the way but who hasn't, and she was a drug addict, so she should kiss the ground she walks on for getting such great opportunities, no need to get huffy over the N word, it is what it is and the kids all do use it and not just black kids, hispanic, bi racial, and white suburban kids, who don't necessarily use it as a hurtful thing but as a shout out.

22. My question is -- If it's OK for black people to use it when talking to eachother, as Whoop et al contend, how black do you have to be?

23. Whoopie just replaced Rosie as the most annoying woman on TV. What a jerk. Why didn't Elizabeth just get up and leave....I would have.

24. Missing the Rosie more and more. Whoopi was too lenient with her. Rosie woulda had her self-destruct in 90 seconds.

25. For Whoopi to bring up her mother not being able to vote, is like me saying my grandpa wasn't able to use indoor plumbing, so don't talk to me about you being able to use toilet paper......it just doesn't make sense.......we DO live in the same world nowadays.....heck, we might just have a black president...but oppression is the "out" for some, it just appears to revolve around ignorance.

26. If women won the right to vote in 1920 and African Americans won the right to vote following the Civil War, I don't understand Whoopie's mom not being able to vote. If I lived in a state that was withholding that right from me and other states would have allowed me to vote, you can bet I would have moved my happy butt to a state where my voice would be heard! I don't get the excuses that people make. If it means something to me, I will find a way to make it happen. And please don't tell me that people couldn't move. If slaves moved out of the south and had to walk all the way to the north to live free, then in 1940, women could and should have found a way!

And Whoopie, the N word, by definition, means "ignorant." By saying that it is okay for a culture to continue to use it means only that you too, are extremely ignorant. Why would you find it acceptable for your own people/culture to call each other "ignorant" in any venue? It only perpetuates an excuse and the continued attempt for many American Blacks to blame whites for their own downfalls and setbacks. Trust me, no culture is reminded more of black peoples rights in this country than whites. We hear it everyday from the govt, news companies, whites and blacks. If we are ready to vote a black man into the Presidential office, then obviously many of us have welcomed black equality. Why can't you do the same?

27. So now the 'dumbest person on the teevee' is crying, and you care. Hilarious. Those republicans really know how to get your attention off the economy, the war, the loss of our constitutional rights. Nothing to see over there. LOOK HERE. The black lady made the really pretty stupid lady cry. Now that's important.

THE VIEW is the biggest waste of time on the teevee. And that is saying a lot.

28. Why white people can't use the N word and black people can.

Most people would think that it is okay to make fun of their own family members. These same people however would take offense if someone from outside their family made the exact same comments about their family. I don't think the use of the N word is really any different.

I hope this little analogy helped.

29. As long as Elisabeth keeps thinking she is living in a fairy tale, she is gonna keep crying! Whoopi knows what she is talking about because she lived it and so have her family members...ignorant? As long as there are people who have experienced the hatred and being called N***** the way it was meant are alive to tell the TRUTH! There are going to be these discussions...like it or not! Who was wiping the tears of those who were running for their lives before they were hanged or raped as they were being called a N*****? Think about it!
