Race War Leaves Hasselbeck in Tears

We haven't really been paying close attention to "The View" since Rosie left -- but if Whoopi Goldberg keeps making Elisabeth Hasselbeck cry over the use of the N-word, we'll tune in more often.

406. We should stop being "politically correct." Let's call a spade a spade. Nothing should unfaze us. A "n" will always be an "n" no matter how you spin it.

Elizabeth, on the other hand, is a hypocrite!

407. 407. Elizabeth says blacks and whites live in the same world and the others are ignorant bitches?

3. Why Elizabeth stays on that show with those ignorant bitches (mostly Joy) is beyond me.

I guess you people need to comprehend better because Whoopi was not condoning the use of the word Sherri was. Whoopi was just letting Elisabeth know that they come from different worlds and yes we do live in different worlds due to race, gender and class. This reality needs to be accepted! It's not just a reality but truth!

408. Whoopi Goldberg is an idiot. A name is a name.... I get called names all the time I don't appreciate but I don't parade around acting a fool about it and then say its okay to call myself that name. I am respectful of people and no one should be called the "N" word however there shouldnt be any double standard. I am not even sure where whoopi was on the Micheal Vick unfortunately people like Whoopi Goldberg, Britney Spears, Michael Vick make the South look bad. Its just as illegal here in the south as it is in the North to have dog fights. Don't blame your mistakes on your culture just because its your "culture" doesnt make it right..... I am not sure why Hasslebeck would cry about the whole thing geez what are we school kids....

409. I have never really liked Elizabeth, I do however understand her sencerity and I do feel for you......Woopie I have always been a huge fan of yours. Keep the sisterly communication open between you two. I will start watching the View again.

Come on their are some smart, good looking women of all colors, dont make me suffer looking at her mug, it is too much to take! I have to put tape over her face in oder to watch.
Lizbeth? Well she is hot and those cackling hens are just jealous, heck I am jealous, I am way better looking then her husband!

411. For all of you dissing Elizabeth BACK OFF.. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion which is why I was able to read yours..
She is thoughtful and heartfelt.. I applaud her for going to work and dealing with the rest of the ladies and their left wing nonsense! It is about time they give her a co-star that supports her views and backs her up instead of the ladies she stars with and verbal beatings she has to endure... Knowone should use the N-word ever.. For a race to say the own a word is wrong...
Last time I checked we all lived in the same world WHOOPI!

412. First of all, let me just say it was a white man who named blacks the n-word or colored. Second of all it was a white man who named blacks, latino's and asians African American, Latino American, Asian American! It was the white man who beat, raped and killed slaves. It was the white man who decided what blacks could and could not do, where they could and could not go. This is a war that will continue for years to come. You have blacks who hate whites, but you have just as many whites who still hate blacks and think blacks are beneath them. NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO USE THE N-WORD, PERIOD! I don't care what the color of your skin is. NOT ALL BLACKS USE THIS WORD! IGNORANCE COMES IN ALL COLORS!! If you didn't live through and experience being a slave, being beaten, hung, raped and chased down like a dog, who are you to say anything. Unless you have experienced racism as a black, you have no idea what it feels like to be in our shoes. To this day, there are racists of all colors, no one has the patent on that! My point is we all conceive the same way, give birth the same way, we all bleed, we all hurt, we all work, pay taxes, live our lives and then we die. The color of someone's skin should not be the first thing you make a judgement about. People are people, and we all have to live in this world together. Because when we die, their is no "peck of order". We are all buried next to someone else, no matter what color their skin is!

413. What is Elizabeth's claim to fame? She was on a reality show and married a football player! And she is the Right Wings spokesperson? A media whore and groupie? What to go right nuts!

414. 405. Fedup: WHY is it that black people can create rules for themselves that other races (especially us caucasians) cannot follow?

Point: Caucasians were those who started the rules! Caucasians were those who started the slavery! It doesn't matter how long ago slavery was, it does matter that it was wrong how blacks were treated by whites. It is still wrong how some still are treated as less than. Just as wrong as some blacks not being able to let go. You never forget where you came from, but you can move forward and grow as the human race should. Those who need a refresher course I suggest you watch Roots. What does matter is all people should be treated as equals.

Now that this world is filled with a variety of people with different skin tones, beliefs, religions, you should be asking yourself that question, only change the color of one's skin (black, latino, asian etc.) and let us all know what you come up with! Those who think otherwise are those who don't want to let go, who want racism to continue, to make themselves feel superior or who are just ignorant! Let the race issue die and live life to the fullest. Stop worrying about who's doing what and focus on the real issues this country and this world as a people face.

415. Elizabeth is very well spoken. I understand where she is coming from when she talks, and I believe her opinions are expressed honestly and sincerely. She does not back down and I admire her for that........after all, she is the LEAST well-known panelist on the show.
I also understand what Whoopi is saying in this particular instance, but there does come a time to move forward and disallow deragatory name-calling in today's music.

416. I do not watch the show because of Elizabeth Hasselhoff.

417. Hello All!

First, I cannot believe how many are thoroughly hassling the Hasselbeck chick from “The View” although it is difficult to empathize with this little "know it all" who certainly has struck a negative chord with many it would appear judging from the posts on this TMZ and other sites. I wonder if “Elisablah-blah-blah” has any idea at all just how many find her thoroughly offensive and rude to the point that they no longer want to see her on the show at all. Perhaps, if this co-host truly exhibited true emotions as well as respect for other “views”, then fewer individuals would find her presence so intolerable. I found it interesting that so many who have watched the program consistently, believe that Hasselbeck needs to be replaced and that Ms. Walters made a tremendous mistake in hiring this former “Survivor” cast member. Perhaps, perhaps, but that is another argument for another time as the main focus is of course, the supposed emotional break-down Hasselbeck had when the controversial topic of the “N-Word” reared its horrible head. I do not know if this was an appropriate topic for the panel to tackle particularly in a morning show venue but I digress. I am sorry but those tears that little opinionated pretender shed were pure crocodile ones and we all know that the world she resides in with her NFL hubby, is more lily white than it is integrated and that is fine, because this is truly the world America represents. Separate but not equal, integrated but not unified. Although there is an enormous "melting pot" of cultures and languages abound, the primary view has always typically been of the mainstream white one and everyone else simply tries to integrate to be accepted whenever possible. Goldberg's thoughts and Sherri's comments about N%%&&& and the differences between it being used within black circles or other racial circles, was simply baffling. This word has always been considered a derogatory term even though many black men choose to use it as an endearment or sorts with their buddies. I simply cannot understand why anyone would embrace this insulting derogatory pejorative used to describe a race of people who have faced numerous years of oppression and isolation. I think that Hasselbeck may have been pretending to shed tears because of a misplaced and ill-directed sense of obligation or guilt for the fact that as a member of America's true mainstream race, she knows that what blacks and others have suffered as a result of racism in this country, the word N*&^%# is merely a symbolic reference that will never quite disappear because the overall sentiments that this represents, are still very much embodied in the culture. Not only within white America but within black America (Sadly, there honestly are several worlds within the one world we all must share.), where the lighter skinned and curly haired individuals are always depicted in cultural references such as music, literature and film. As long as the preferential treatment for those of a whiter skinned hue persists, the word n$^^#$ will continue to be pervasive in society in general and American society in particular. Thus all the tears that Hasselbeck and any other overly privileged individual chooses to shed for the fact that its use blatantly points out the fact that injustices still prevail in this world at large, are quite honestly, meaningless. The power to change is upon us and if Barack Obama is truly the man for the job perhaps, those like Hasslebeck, who has more than clearly indicated that she is not a supporter and recently made comments about Michele Obama's visit to "The View" by comparing it with the upcoming interview with Sarah Palin, will replace emotional drama with true action by supporting such change by pulling the lever marked Democrat on election day. Personally, I can truthfully say, I am not certain whether or not if McCain or Barack or the best men for the job and maybe Clinton should have been a part of the ticket. Sorry for the political tangent, let me return to the topic at hand. In my humble opinion, it appears that Hasselbeck's true sentiments towards individuals unlike those she chooses to surround herself with in her private life, are becoming more transparent everyday, which may be the true motive behind those tears that were a product of promotion and self-love other than anything to do with the painful past and present of the "N-word". I truly would like it if more people could be completely honest about their true feelings and not hide behind the guise of empathy because according to many posts on this board and others I have seen relating to the disdain many seem to feel for Hasselbeck, no one is buying the contrived can of concern that she seems so desperate to sell.

You have certainly made more than one valid point here. I think it is truly tragic that in this day and age, racism and racial differences are still repsonsible for the disparities that exist within economic and educational lines but as you pointed out in the end, we are all the same and we will meet our maker one day. Would it not be wonderful if everyone could meet their creators with a smile on their faces because they treated everyone with dignity, respect and human kindness? I truly hope that this can happen one day for all.

Much Love and Peace

420. Has Elisabeth filed her income tax return and paid her taxes yet? Has she had her kids baptized yet? I doubt it as screechy loudmouth Bitsy would have been sure to let everyone know all about it. We did have to suffer through hearing Grace screeching some kids song and seeing her pictures.

Why is she even bringing up the "n" word around Grace? Grace most certainly must use it and she most likely has heard it at home from Tim and Elisabeth! They probably refer to Whoopi and Sherri as "n's" and of course Grace has heard it and I hope she screeches it out in public for all to hear the next time she's out in public.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck DOES NOT DESERVE her salary and consequent riches! She is not worth much more than a minimum wage paying job and the same goes for Sherri Shepherd.

Sapphire:

Contrary to another comment on here, I have found your postings consistently insightful and more importantly "dead-on" when it comes to La Hasselbeck who truly does seem to want all of the attention directed towards her even if it happens to be for reasons that are less than admirable. Like so many in the industry particularly those there for entertainment solely and to represent the so-called "commoner", Hasselbeck adores being in the spotlight however, she is ill-equipped for the role of professional speaker for it appears that she has forgotten how to hold polite conversations. The group on "The View" obviously have a great deal of information to share and for the most part, it is interesting but when Hasselbeck chooses to lose emotional control as she did with this discussion, it is more than a little disconcerting. Perhaps this person is not as content as she would like everyone to believe. I wonder why anyone with the ability to stay at home and care for their children would choose to leave them at home for someone else to watch. I do not think this individual takes more than the legally allowed amount of maternity leave although I could be mistaken. I am just curious as to why when provided with the chance to be the "perfect stay at home mom" as someone married to an individual earning millions a year, would not choose to take advantage of such a prvilege after all, it is not as if the "professional" role Hasselbeck plays as one of the co-hosts on "The View" is all that life changing. I would have to agree that this individual is less than deserving but for some reason or other, she is being allowed to share "her view" with the world and judging from this site, not too many are content with that fact. Maybe her husband called in a favor or as one poster suggested, Hasselbeck really does have something on Ms. Walters but what would that be I wonder? Just a thought is all. Well thank you for sharing your "view".
