We haven't really been paying close attention to "The View" since Rosie left -- but if Whoopi Goldberg keeps making Elisabeth Hasselbeck cry over the use of the N-word, we'll tune in more often.

79. Elizabeth jest doan git it. She tries to put herself in the heart and mind of a black lady, tries to take on all of the sadness and pain of a really emotional history; slavery, discrimination of every sort, and she can try, but she just does not have "soul". She does mean well, but seems to come off as a stuck up snit, who doesn't know squat about what black men and women have gone through in this country for 200 years.

82. Why anyone would want to belittle someone with terms like that is beyond me. IMO it only shows the person saying it as a trashy person. Reading the transcripts of this part of the show was really something. If I were Sherri Sheppard, I don't think I'd be bragging about how often I say it, and how often I say it in my family.

85. Black people can use the N-word among themselves, and in many cases in the black culture it's actually become a term of endearment. If it's gone historically from being a vile, disgusting racist word, to that of a greeting, when it's used from one black person to another, then so be it. Not knowing the history of the word, and that it was associated with racism and lynchings is just plain ingnorant, but if the word has somehow evolved into a term of endearment within the black segments of the black community only, then it is what it is. Yeah, it's totally a double standard, just like if you're Jewish and refer to a fellow Jewish person as a "Jew," in a joking fashion or as a term of endearment, but if you're not Jewish and refer to someone as a "Jew" (see Mel Gibson) it's offensive. Face it, that's just the way it is. Now get over it. If the use of the word still offends you, feel free to wipe out all the rap music you have downloaded on your iPod if you really want to take a stand.

86. I agree - the tears were FAKE JUST LIKE HER! Elisabeth is bellicose and belligerant and I cannot stand they way she gesticulates like a mad woman. Does she think she's a referee with the stupid hand signals? And I can't help but think she is coached on what to say by her husband. He loafs at home while she's spouting off and being vastly overpaid and most likely watches the show and then the two of them plot and plan when she gets back home.

90. I have been watching the View since the beginning. I feel what goes around comes around. The way they treated Rosie was disgusting so now EH can get it back 10 fold. I totally get where Whoopi is coming from if only EH would listen. She's not saying it's a good word she is just explaining that they as a group can talk to each other like that. My husband is dark and I am white so I get it. They need to take a hook to EH and get her the hell off that show. I hope they realize who they let go to keep that stupid girl. Rosie & Whoopi are both fantastic. If they want to loose Whoopi just keep it up with that airhead.
