Janet's Boob Won't Cost a Thing

So Janet Jackson's naked nip won't end up costing CBS half a mil after all.

A federal appeals court just tossed the $550K fine against CBS for her infamous 2004 "wardrobe malfunction," ruling that the FCC acted "arbitrarily and capriciously" in slapping CBS with the fine.

CBS didn't immediately have comment, nor did the FCC.

16. It takes 4 years for this?

She (Janet) should have showed both boobs.

17. Janet + Justin should pay for it. They were the ones stupid enough to do something like that.
They sure can afford $550K's peanuts to them!

18. WARPED AMERICAN VALUES - Isn't it amazing that disemboweling and murder are regular fare on primetime "Crime Drama". Torture and genocidal mass immolation barely rate a yawn on the nightly news; but the children must be protected from the sight of a breast which God made to nurture life and any mention of the 'act of love' is strictly verboten. We live in a society that worships War and Death while claiming to be a 'Christian' nation - followers of Christ who taught that God is Love. Our hypocrisy would be laughable if our nation hadn't be built upon the genocide of its native people and the enslavement of the children of Africa. With a million Iraquis murdered, millions more displaced to escape torture and oppression of American invasion forces - millions more displaced and left to die forgotten in Darfur, American cities lost to breeched levees that Army Corps of Engineers let fail - and we freak out over a Boob? And I'm not talking about Bush.

20. good.. now can janet pack up her boob and just go away ? she has never taken ANY responsibility for the wave of censorship that followed her silly stunt. shame on her. i'm glad though that a court has brought some sanity back to the situation. there were more boobs flashing in the beer commercials than in janet's lame song.

21. I always found it funny that the FCC and "outraged viewers" were all up in arms about the vulgarity of the exposed breast. "My kids were watching!" was heard from a lot of people. Yet these parents had no problem with the preceding portion of the performance, during which Janet and JT were dancing suggestively? I had no problem with any of it, but I would think that the sexual dancing would encourage that type of behavior (and bother parents) more than an accidental (or not) exposure of skin.

As for whether it was on purpose or not, obviously I don't know. I heard that JT was supposed to rip off the black corset, and only the red bra underneath was supposed to be exposed... must have been poor quality clothing if both whole cups (of corset and bra) ripped off accidentally! Maybe they were sabotaged! LOL :)

22. why r we still placing all the blame on janet? it was j.t.s song( i'll have you naked by the end of this song) and he was the one who was suppose to be snaching the top off, but he gets no bad press and all he could come up with was ( my parents were appalled), but nopt at the song!

24. Yanno what I never understood. If the whole thing was an accident and not planned, then why was she wearing a pastie?

25. It's alright for children to watch adults knock the crap out of each other and sometimes sustain permanent or fatal injuries, and commercials with half naked women promoting beer, but a boob covered by a nipple shield is obscene? I can't remember who said this about the movies and TV. You show someone kissing a breast and you get an "R" rating; however hack it off with a chainsaw and you can get a PG.

26. Yeah but how much did it cost CBS in attorney's fees to fight this?

27. Who are her friggin PR people? Why didn't she just say she was doing for the guys in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Pop! OVER! It was dragged out so long you would've thought she appeared nude. Boobs are all over the place in the media.

Our country has some strange double standards. Maybe God is punishing us by having MS. USA fall down year after year.

28. I think the real atrocious obscenity is the fact that enough people watch football for all of this to matter. Seriously, if people would just realize that football is a complete waste of time, none of this would have happened. All the arguments you guys are making, we're a nation obsessed with war, nudity isn't so bad, they're valid, but the real question we should be asking is: What is the point of football, and why do so many Americans find it to be meaningful?
