House Staff Represents for Lunch Lady

A giant boycott is scheduled to go down next Tuesday in Washington, D.C. Rising gas prices? Nope. Iraq war? Nah. A woman named Little Doris? Ding, ding.

Turns out Doris is a beloved member of the cafeteria staff at the Longworth House Office Building. According to an email circulating among House staffers, Doris was suspended without pay for being $9 short on her register. The government loses billions all the time and she's being jacked up for losing $9!

So the staffers are looking to boycott all the cafeterias run by Restaurant Associates to show their support for Doris.

Now about those taxes ...

32.
I want so bad to write something but I can't believe this. How ridiculous!! If I could get D.C. I would protest for Doris.
O'Reilly would have a great time with this one. Doris stand up and give them hell.

33. Do we know if this a pattern for Doris or not? If not, then shame on her employer. If so, shame on Doris. I have worked for several retailers in my life and none were so strict as to suspend an employee over an isolated event of this nature.

34. Little Doris probably stole the $9 to support an ongoing crack addiciton habit.....just goes to show you where your elected officials' prioritie's are at.

35. Hello,
After reading this I will only say it looks like a whole lot of brown bag lunches in store until they get this "UGLY" situation straightened out.

Thanks,

36. Oh yeah, and another thing....Little Doris is probably Mexican because Mexican women are ALWAYS making mistakes at the cash register, ALWAYS!

example: today I went to return something that I bought for my car, she refunded my card $100 and then charged my card $100...like I wouldn't go home and look at my online banking account. Shady Mexican bitch.

example: yesterday I went through a Taco Bell drive thru and made a $5 order. She charged my card $9...like I wouldn't look at my receipt and go back and complain. You want to know what she did? She reached right into the register and paid me back the difference in cash.....the same cash that she would have stuck in her pocket at the end of the day. Shady Mexican bitch.

Little Doris is probably Mexican.

37. To all of you Ms. Doris haters, SCREW YOU!!! I personnally know Ms. Doris and she would never ever take money. She has been up on the hill for over 30 years and she is the sweetest, kindest person you could ever meet. I go to the cafeteria just to see her smiling face. And out of all of the thousands of people that come through her line she remembers my birthday. That is the kind of woman she is. She is very loved and cherished. The company that she works for treats their employees terrible and we wish they would have never been rewarded the contract.
UPDATE: Ms. Doris is back! We reallied together and demanded that she be brought back. She is back at her register and very emotional and grateful for everyone's support.

39. Even mcDonalds has a $20-25 mistake limit. They must be huge azwipes to over react for $9, which is really $5-6 in today's economy.

40. She was either a bad worker and her supervisors were looking for a reason to get rid of her or her supervisors are idiots. Im leaning towards the idiot side of this issue. Although the cafe is not owned by the government, it sure runs like it!

42. I work in Rayburn Building as an intern and I must say that Doris (either of them!) are the sweetest lunch ladies I've ever encountered. I know our office was planning to all pitch in $9.00 (each of us) to prove our point. But now she's back, with a thousand apologies. Forget personal religion- Doris is the thing you don't mess with here on the hill :)
