Lil Wayne Plays With Fire, Gets Sued

Lil WayneAnother lil' problem for Lil Wayne -- who's now accused of ripping off the Rolling Stones!

Wayne -- aka the guy behind the lollipop song -- is being sued by a music publishing company that owns the rights to the Rolling Stones song "Play with Fire." Abkco Music Inc. claims that Wayne released an alternate version of the song -- that they're calling "explicit, sexist and offensive" -- without permission.

They're suing for copyright infringement and seeking unspecified damages. A rep at the label could not be reached for comment.

61. I don't care what you say about this music, Getreal. The fact is, the music in this genre to based on sampling (ripping-off) the music of other artist, and that I will always see as completely unoriginal, and actually quite lazy. If theses "artist" really do have genuine talent, then why don't they create, or at least try to create ORIGINAL Music. Anyone can take a song, even one from 50 years ago, remix it, add their own lyrics to it and call it a "Song". Until this changes, I will never have any respect for this genre.. cause all it seems is like they're just out to make a quick buck.

62. Ahhh, "Vanesssa", Where do You come up with the idea that "MUSIC IS ABOUT RE USING OLD SONGS"? That's Not Music, that's ripping off ORIGINAL Music to make a quick Buck, and anyone can do it and call it a song. And just because "ALL THE RAPPERS DO IT" doesn't mean it's Okay or Justified. If I was a Musician, and composed a piece of Music, and then someone came alone and sampled it to make their own tune out of it, I'd Sue The Living Crap out of them.. Cause that MY Song.. MY Music.. NOT Theirs. If You're a REAL Artist, Write Your own Damn Music.. don't rip it off from someone else who actually had enough Brain Cells to Write it. :P

63. Wow,he must be of some importance if all of you wasted your time reading the article and commenting about the situation. Here's a suggestion: How about you find something you are passionate about, pursue it, and make a couple of dollars off of instead of worrying about what the next man does. If he didn't have any talent, why did he sell a million in a week? Why aren't you rapping if it's so easy to do? From the looks of the comments, they don't look like they came from Black people. With that being said, over 60% of rap music is being purchased by Whites. Tell them to stop buying the albums or better yet, tell Universal, which is the parent company of Cash Money and ran by mostly Whites,to stop distributing the music.. While your at it,tell the Black execs as well because they have a part in it too.

66. It's Not about "Hatin", it about Copyright Protection and Enforcement. By the way, if white kids are the one's buying 60% of this music, maybe that's because it's the only music they hear played on the radio. Other music formats aren't being pushed down theses kids throats like rap and hip-hop are. It's basically all they know, and the ones that DO have the balls to do their own thing and listen to actual "Original Music" are ridiculed for it.. they're made out to be the strange ones. Bottom line, it's all about money and marketing. People listen and buy crap music because that what's pushed on to them, they don't know any better.
