Congressional Lunch Lady Cashes In

So the story we put up yesterday ... that Miss Doris, the cashier at the cafeteria in the Longworth House Office Building, is back at work! Seems the pressure was too much for the powers that be in D.C.

In a supremely draconian move, Doris was suspended without pay after her register came up 9 bucks short. One congressional staffer put it this way to TMZ: "It's like the return of Christ. Everyone is congratulating her -- hugs, tearful kisses, she's thanking one and all for their support."

17. #4 our vote really does not count. i live in ny and no matter who i vote for this state is going to be one by a dem. if the 2000 election taught us anything is that the system is flawed. i really wish people would stop with every vote counts because it does not. maybe with elections of smaller scale like mayor or gov but not the president.

18. Yeah but what was she wearing and how hot was she? No shots of her bending over to pick up a dropped fork? Has she gained weight due to the stress? Any comments from former boyfriends, ex-friends, loony parents?

19. I was just wondering if the congressional staffer (Kate M.) was on the clock when she made the #11 post. Was her personal computer used or did the tax payers pay for this?

20. Yes Congressional "staffers" (not sure why we need the quotes on that) have time to read TMZ- they do let us breath when we are not trying to fix the problems that Republicans have put us in...if you have time to read TMZ during your work day why shouldn’t we...and NO Doris is NOT Mexican

22. LMAO valkyrie... educate yourself. The President can't do a thing without the approval from Congress. Which happens to be DEMOCRAT (and also has a lower approval rating than the president). MORON!

24. For theose of you complaining about Congressional staff being on TMZ during work time, let me assure you that you are getting more than your money's worth out of us. We work long hours for much lower pay than we could make in the private sector (especially those of us with multiple advanced degrees), and often in less than terrific conditions (try 16 people crammed into three little rooms on the House side)

25. #15 So, what is YOUR answer to fix what you say "Republican's" put us in???? You're full of crap. Republica's did NOT get us where we are today. There are other things that effect the planet. The Republican's don't have that kind of power. I guess YOU are one of many who have FORGOTTEN!

26. Apparently there is more than one congressional staffer learning the fine art of fleecing the American tax payer by spending their day blogging. If the working conditions are so bad maybe you should get a job out there in the real world and be a productive member of society. Try blogging while working in the private sector while on the clock and using company equipment and see how long you have a job. Maybe the GAO needs to take a closer look at what goes on in your three little rooms. It would be interesting to find out if the staffers doing the blogging work for the Democrats or Republicans.

27. to dutchintexas:
The GOP minority in the Senate stalls everything on procedural votes by requiring 60 votes for passage, then they all vote in lock-step to prevent the 60-vote threshold from being reached. It's a calculated move on their part, designed to defeat anything the democrats try to put forth that they don't agree with. There you go...MORON.

28. to janet:
when the democrats left the white house, we not only had a balanced budget...we actually had a surplus. not only did the republicans blow through that, they dragged us into the largest deficit EVER , not to mention an unnecessary war that has lasted longer than WW2. you must be one of those people who still believe that there were WMD's in Iraq, that Iraqis were responsible for 9/11 and that Obama is a muslim. pull your head out of your ass. (and no, i am not a democrat...just a realist)
