Willie Aames Not in Charge of His Finances

Yeah, it's sad that Willie Aames -- aka Buddy from "Charles in Charge" -- has filed for bankruptcy. But what's even sadder is how little coin he had to begin with.

We've gotten a copy of Willie's bankruptcy filing in Kansas (where he lives) and it seems that Aames was lowballed on his low-level fame. The actor received only $14K for being on VH1's "Celebrity Fit Club" and 15 grand for his book "Grace is Enough" about his struggles with drugs and money. He's about $350,000 in the hole, total.

The last time we caught up with Willie, he and his son had just gotten jacked at gunpoint in January but it looks like the real robbery happened well before that. Get this guy a new manager!

16. I worked at a bank in Kansas a couple years ago and he came in to cash a check for $30,000 from a car dealership. What do you suppose he got that for??

17. Shannon you know he lives in Johnson County, Kansas! Now that high end. If he were to buy that house in LA in
would cost 10 times what he could get here. This is unreal. We have everyday people living where he does and they
go to work everyday. I think he may have did a commerical or own part of that dealership.

i wish him the best! If you can't make it in Kansas where can you make it? Good luck Willie!

19. gees i make more money than willie ames.... you think these tv stars are rich and they turn out to be low income..... maybe willie needs to get a job like us regular joes. i am a RN , maybe he should go to nursing school....

20. I still think that the bigger story should be that he received nearly $5,000 in unemployment checks this year, and nearly $10,000 in 2006. For what, trying to find acting jobs? Say what? Doesn't anybody else feel a little cheated that us 40 hour a week stiffs helped pay him thousands of dollars in tax dollars while he finds acting jobs. Please get a real job Willie and don't take it out on us taxpayers, especially if it's towards your $300,000 in foolish debt.

21. Willie hasn't worked on TV in YEARS, he may have earned a lot of money during his years on TV, but money is not eternal; if you don't spend it and invest it wisely you'll end up with nothing.

And only $14,000 for being on Celeb Fit Club??? VH1 sure is cheap,

Poor Wllie though, he seems to be a nice guy.

23. Why don't you just kick him while he is down, TMZ???

24. It is a shame how quick we are to judge! Just because his name and face has been in front of camera's doesn't mean that he isn't human, or makes the same mistakes that we do. Come on people!! Look around! His situation is no differen't than your brother's, or your neighbors. The only difference is that his buisness is out there for everyone to see, everyone to judge!
God bless you brother!! Keep lookin up!

25. Listen folks, first off, I know Willie and his wife personally. THEY ARE WONDERFUL people.
You have no clue what they have gone through the past many years and how little he has been paid to do the things he has.
He DOES work.... He strives to work hard to provide for his family. HIS WIFE (for those that mentioned her not working) also does work part time cooking for people AND SUFFERS with a serious illness called LUPUS. How many of you could work with a disease that is that debilitating???
PLEASE offer them some grace. They do not live above their means. I know this for a fact. They are just humans like the rest of us that got into a home when he had a steady, well paying job (that he lost- not of his own doing) and like most of us, then tried his best to find work after work. WILLIE does work, and works hard.
He also ministers when the oppurtunities are presented- just recently coming to our church in Washington state.
These people have hearts of gold. Please don't lynch them. They are going through enough.... They deserve some mercy and grace.. please.

26. I want to keep saying this... Shame on those that judge.
You don't know this man nor his wife. They are great people with wonderful hearts- they would give you the shirts off their back if they could.
Willie DOES work every chance he gets... His wife also works part time doing cooking for people personally as she suffers DAILY with lupus.. A CHRONIC painful disease. Willie spends time trying to care for her and trying to provide for his family so please offer them some grace.
Please, please people. They need prayers and encouragement. NOT comments like this.

27. Willie is a great and talented man who has WORKED hard and providing for his family. He is not the first nor the last celebrity to file bankruptcy. Imagine how you all would feel if this was plastered about you on national news??
" Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Shame on TMZ and those that are kicking this sweet man and his wife while they are down.
Offer some kindness, some grace.... those things do come back to you when you offer them.

28. Dudes, Willie Aames is famous for being on Eight is Enough, hense the name of his book... Honestly not sure if he was ever on Charles in Charge or not though.

Posted at 11:13PM on Jul 30th 2008 by kkb

29. Well said jsprig. I saw him on CFC and he did a great job, truly an inspiration for anyone who wants to get into shape. He even took the time to visit the Vh1 CFC board and chat with the viewers. None of the other contestants did that.

Still I don't understand something; I remember reading a few months ago that one of the participants received $75-80 grand for being on the show. And they only paid Willie 14K?? That's unfair.

All the best to you Willie
