46. I didn't know so many right wingers frequented this site. Or maybe it's just the usual lone fanatic, posting and reposting the same crap. Here's the facts, kids. Drilling in Alaska will reap no benefits for at least 10 years. Even then, the oil will belong to the oil companies, who will sell it to where ever they can make the most profit, and that may or may not mean America. What has affected the price of gas more than supply or demand is speculation and refining. When there is more oil, the companies simply ease back on refining to artificially create demand. This is the same scam that played out during Enron and the California energy crises.

Now, as far as patriotism goes, liberals freed the slaves, gave us the 40 hour work week and the concept of overtime. They gave us clean water and food inspection, the freeway system, public education, social security and safety standards in the workplace. They gave women the right to vote. Liberals wrote the declaration of Independence and the Constitution. (The conservatives of the time were called Tories.) Instead of reciting the endlessly repeated fabrications of the right wing propaganda machine, you might try reading a book written by someone other than Hannity, Limbaugh or Coulter.

As to Obama, I have no idea how good or bad he'll turn out to be, but I'm just happy to hear a potential president who can string two sentences together, and not simply achieve coherence - which the current one cannot do - but actually be inspirational.

47. Hahahahahaha! Drill in Alaska! That is funny.... you willing to wait 30 plus years for that oil to flow? Oil is a finite resource. Finite means once it is gone it is gone for good. Instead of being smart and thinking of the future, greedy conservatives want to wallow around in their oil now and let their kids figure the mess out in the future. Great family values!!

48. anyone who believes that Barrack will TAX them more is an idiot who knows nothing about economics. The Republicans give huge tax breaks to biz (especially the oil biz) then increase the size of our government, and run up the deficit...in fact the whole Repubican administration has been on a credit card. They would rather that biz have your money then you!
Which leads to higher prices (that is a de facto tax), the devaulation of the dollar (remember when you could travel overseas and afford stuff?) less service (even worse then a tax), and a government unprepared to handle any emergency (Katrina, Iowa).
The Republicans dont care about anyone who makes less then a million dollars a year. They prey on your fears of people who are slightly different then you. That is all they can offer, more hate and problems.

A media study was released yesterday by the normally conservative CMPA and it found that ABC, NBC, and CBS have been tougher on Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) than Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)

57. Really, "renewable energy economy" I want to hear more about this, wait I want to hear anything about this. I'll I have heard from the Obama campaign is they don't want us dependent on foreign oil (like everyone but the Saudis agree with that statement). Give me something to vote for. Otherwise I agree, he's just Paris and Britney - lot's of fluff no substance.

Its not just McCain its his backers as well, they are scared to high heaven since Obama won. I assure you 60% of McCain backers if not more are simply scared of a black man.

I donated to McCain's campaign in 2000, now he is a shell of that man. I'll be voting for the better candidate for nothing more than watching the conservatives lose their minds.

59. I KNEW when Oprah threw her HEFTY SUPPORT... behind Obama that he was bad news. Since then, everything I've seen and read about Barak Obama has reinforced my view that he's the worst possible candidate for President. I don't like McCain, and I didn't like Hillary, but it's a choice between the lesser of the evils, unfortunately, so I will vote McCain. Even liberal-leaning columnists will agree that Obama has a huge problem with arrogance. He believes (1) that he's already President and (2) has already made a statement about "setting up a Kingdom here on earth", and I paraphrase. He thinks he's the Messiah, for Pete's sake!!! And please, use your brains! Do you really think he sat in a church for 20 years, was married by Wright, had his children baptized by Wright, and never knew of Wright's beliefs? PLEASE!!!!!! That's ridiculous!!! Some other poster made a comment about Billy Graham, etc., talking about racism, etc., I've NEVER heard another preacher say G$#@*&^ America from their pulpit! This has nothing to do with race, for me. I would vote for Colin Powell in a heartbeat.
