Neighbor Says He's Boxer's Latest Punching Bag

In case it isn't obvious, when living next door to a boxer, don't ask him to turn the music down.
Michael Bentt's neighbor, Mark Emerson, allegedly learned this the hard way. In a lawsuit, Emerson claims that Bentt pummeled him after he asked the pugilist to keep the noise down. And prepare to wince as we recount Emerson's damage: "A broken eye socket, a broken cheek bone, two black eyes, a bruised collar bone, numbness in the face, a chronically drooping eye socket and cheek" and on and on and on.

Emerson wants unspecified damages. Bentt's reps didn't respond to a request for comment. We are prepared to duck.

17. Emerson should get everything Bentt owns. Not that that is a great deal. Bentt almosts kills someone and he is still walking the streets...whose next?? Nobody deserves a beating like this. "Attcked his wife" my ass!!!!!! I really hope producers and studio execs all over Hollywood find out about this because this "boxer turned actor" will cost some studio a lot of money in future law suits.

18. To Uhvenoidea: Emerson is on this website because the lawsuit was picked up by the entertainment press, you dufus. You are obviously a friend of the offender Bentt, or perhaps one of Bentt's legal team (which he will sorely need). If you had ever met Emerson or seen him in action for the last 26 years as I have you would know that he doesn't have the intrusive personality required to perform the acts you allege. He is perhaps the most non-confrontational, accepting and considerate person I know. To know him is to love him. As far as being middle-aged and white, well, his higher power made him that way, but he also instilled great human qualities of compassion and consideration for others while he was making him white and deciding which day he would be born. The bottom line is: no matter what Emerson is alleged to have perpetrated against Lisa Bentt, the amount of force dispensed by Michael Bentt to "protect" Lisa was excessive and unwarranted. He knows the kind of damage his hands can do; it is his legal duty to control their use.

19. Dear Jackass Dufus
What was excessive and unwarranted was Mark's rude ass coming to Lisa Bentt's door on the night she moved in to tell her and her mother to "Go Home." Your 26 years of experience are laughable. Do more research. Your clent is a bully and a jackasss wih a history of harrassment and this bullcrap on TMZ is just further evidence of how far your client will go to extort sympathy and revise history. The only human quality he has is that he breathes and exists. You have been misled as well, but all thngs in darkness come out to light.

20. Dear Gypsy: Hope Mark learned his lesson.

21. I've known Mark Emerson since 1981. I have never known him to be a bully or to behave in a belligerant or hostile manner toward anyone. The allegation that he attacked Bentt's wife is a lie. There is no record of her requiring medical attention or any evidence of bruises on her body. Bentt, who obviously has impulse control issues, took Emerson out in this brutal and unexpected beating and then in an effort to cover up his rash act, claimed that his wife was threatened. I photographed Mr. Emerson at the hospital the night of the assault. As the photos indicate he was worked over by a pro who was out of control. Don't forget, Emerson is 57 years old, barely 5'9" and about 180 lbs (soaking wet)- Bentt, aside from being a professional fighter, is 43 years old, 6'4" and 240lbs. Mr Emerson has not been in a fight since highschool, Mr. Bentt made a living as a boxer. Who are we kidding here?

Mr. Emerson has every right to request that his neighbors respect his reasonable desire for some peace and quiet at 9 in the evening. He never entered their property and never touched either Bentt's wife or Bentt- but Bentt certainly touched him. You can fault Emerson for believing that he could have a civil exchange with his obnoxious neighbors over the noise factor. Perhaps he was naive. Indeed, instead of behaving in a civilized fashion, Bentt assaulted Mr. Emerson without provocation and manufactured reasons for that assault after the fact.

I've been to Mr. Emerson's house countless times. I've noticed that he treats his neighbors respectfully and has developed a friendly relationship with all his neighbors. The woman that accuses him of being a bully and the like and feels that he 'got what's coming to him,' ought to be ashamed of herself. Aside from lying about Mr. Emerson's past conduct, that she should believe that Emerson did anything to warrant such a brutal beating reveals more about her pathological perspective than anything about Mark Emerson. I would urge Mr. Emerson's attorneys to consider taking legal action against this woman, this idiot.

As for the police, I fear they were too busy consuming donuts to figure out what really happened in this case. The right questions were never asked and no real investigation was initiated. For some reason, they were content to interview the perpetrator (Bentt) who fabricated a story about what occured while Mr. Emerson lay bloodied and unconscious and came away with the absurd conclusion that the victim, lying helpless, was somehow at fault even though there was no evidence or witnesses to support Bentt's ridiculous claims. I stand by Mr. Emerson and fully expect that Bentt will pay for his crime (and it was a criminal assault, no doubt about it).

All your friends and colleagues are with you, Mark.

22. Dear mmmnhhhh: It was 11:30 at night and he thought they were the movers. It could've happened to anyone. Don't go ballistic on me, now.

23. I have known Mike Bentt for a good while, and all I can say is that he is the most gentle, respectful, caring and concerned friend I have ever known. I cannot imagine a scenario in which many of you idiots are painting. The guy who made the statement about protecting his wife is right on...that's what you do when a drunken moron attacks someone you love. If Mike was in the wrong, he should have been arrested, and he was not. PERIOD.

24. Again, a picture is worth a thousand words ... the fact that both links to a picture of Mr. Emerson's beaten face have been removed from this site speaks volumes. Too bad for Mr. Bentt that the jury will still be able to see it.
