Shia Chills at Hospital with Bum Arm

We just got pics of Shia LaBeouf taking a smoke break at the hospital, as he recovers from his really bad car crash and DUI bust.

Shia's left arm is bandaged, in a splint. It appears he's wearing the same clothes from night of the crash -- if you look closely, you'll see what appears to be blood on his jeans, and only the sleeve on his left arm has been cut off.

UPDATE: Shia's lawyer says the actors left hand was "crushed" in his alleged DUI wreck last weekend. Michael Norris told the AP Shia still runs the risk of infection and other complications, adding the arm is currently "immobilized." Production on the "Transformers" sequel has been re-jiggered so he can give his hand time to heal.

31. People are right about the DUI because a head injury can cause issues with appearing drunk etc.

38. im glad he's ok. you could see bruises on his face. imagine if he had broken his legs and not his hand? that would have meant no TF2.

39. lol 5'11 and 200 lbs.. give me a break lol how funny.. that's like football teams in high school that up the persons height by 2-3 inches and by 30 lbs.. how annoying. This guy at most is 5'10 172 lbs... quit dreaming...

40. He is an idiot to be smoking, especially if he is supposed to be healed up in time to do his next movie. Smoking while trying to heal is a big no no. It takes about an addtional two months to heal the bones and only 68% of smokers heal completely. Not to mention the cancer......

41. Doesn't this kid know he shouldn't be smoking after surgery. Smoking can cause big problems in the recovery stage. And what's wrong with the hospital staff that allow it? Guess he's just another Hollywood trainwreck waiting to happen. It's just a matter of time.

43. A 'crushed hand'? Then why is he sitting outside taking a smoke? His hand is broken, I'm sure, but 'crushed'? That's lawyer talk to get sympathy for his DWI client. Shia will have a miraculous healing when he gets off with a slap on his non-crushed wrist.

44. Sh!a Happens!!! lol I still have major respect for him because I just read somewhere that hedidn't run off, he faced the issue. Other celebs would have hauled off and acted like nothing happened, but he didn't. Plus, he's really cute! I remember watching him on Even Stevens. He was such a dork, but he's all grwon up now. Shia rocks!!!!!

Hospital staff have no legal right to stop a person from smoking in outdoor, legal areas.
