Christina Applegate Fighting Breast Cancer

Christina ApplegateWhen it rains it pours. Earlier this year Christina Applegate's 26-year-old boyfriend was found dead -- and now the actress has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Her publicist released this statement: "Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor-ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery."

62. I don't know if Christina reads TMZ or related the related comments but I am posting this in hopes that she will see it. I understand her mother had BC at an early age. If this is the case, I would suggest she have genetic testing for the BRCA1 OR BRCA2 gene (hereditary BC). Her family history STRONGLY suggests she's a carrier. I would also suggest the most aggressive form of treatment possible. A bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction (I had this done as a preventative measure due to BRCA1 status). My breasts look better than my natural ones ever did and they are no longer ticking time bombs. Christina, be AGRESSIVE, be your own advocate because NO ONE values your life and your health more than you do. Be smart, be wise and RESEARCH all you can. The younger you are when you have BC, the more aggressive it tends to be due to our hormone levels and also due to reasons not fully understood. I'm 38 and took preventative measures @ 37. Feel free to visit the FORCE website for more info on hereditary breast cancer. Take care of yourself.

63. Christina is doing the right thing! I had the very same surgery earlier this year based on family history. She will feel hugely relieved once she no longer has to worry about breast cancer. The best choice I've ever made for myself and my family.
