So that's who he was driving! Meet Demaris Meyer, the passenger in Morgan Freeman's smash-up late last night.

From what we can gather, 48-year-old Meyer is from Memphis, works as an executive assistant at Fed-Ex and is an avid gardener. One source tells us that Meyer is a very close friend of Morgan's wife Myrna and is often seen at their house for get-togethers.

Freeman was driving Meyer's 1997 Nissan Maxima in rural Mississippi when he lost control and the car flipped. Meyer was treated for her injuries and released.

50. I talked with Demeris's Mom yestereday and she is still in the hospital running tests. I can only hope and pray that they both have a speedy recovery. God bless them both!!!!

52. Is it any of our business why he was with this woman? Mr. Freeman is human first and a "star" second, whatever that means. The media picks and choses who they want to make golden in our eyes and we buy it all hook, line and sinker. We hold to every word as the truth at 5 & 6 p.m. for the world news and BELIEVE IT ALL! I had to come on here and see for myself what the morning radio show was talking about. They were making it seem like they lady was butt ugly. Shes just normal, they exaggerated. I hope him and her get better. I dont believe the rumors about an affair.

I’m really not going to say anything but I hope to God he wasn’t tricking with his wife’s friend because if so, he is so busted and it took a car accident to bring it to the light! 55. You people are idiots accusing them of fooling around because they were riding in the car together,,,geez!!
I saw an article in a landscaping magazine a while back that was featuring the Freeman's property. It had some beautiful pictures of their landscaping. If the lady in the car was known to be an avid gardener and a friend of the family, isn't is possible that he was bringing her to their home for that reason? Maybe she had picked him up at the Memphis airport and was bringing him to his home in MS because his wife is elderly and didn't want to be out on the dark roads at night alone. There could be a million other reasons for them being in the car together.

59. Morgan Freeman is and will remain an American icon regardless of his personal association with this woman. Since that is the case, let his wife worry about it. Our only concern should be whether this talented actor will recover.

60. I hope Mr. Freeman and Ms. Meyers are up and well soon. Only God and those two know what was happening. I am so glad that they were not killed. Mrs. Freeman is the wife, so do not feel sorry for her. Sometimes wives prefer that they mess arounf, so she can get the money and the girlfriends get the honey. She wa the owner of a 11 years old car, so she was not with Morgan for the money. His private life is just that, and so is her private life. I am just glad they are alive.
