65. Actually, if you think about it Paris has done a brilliant job of branding herself. So brilliant in fact that she is able to make a living off of her "brand" as a dingy, airheaded blond heiress. Not just a living, but probably a killing! If you know anything about Hollywood you know that in order to "make it" you need a personal brand that makes you stand out from all the other wanna-be stars. Paris has certainly done that, ala Pam Anderson, Jessica Simpson, Marilyn Monroe. Other blonds who certainly haven't been hurt by being perceived as dingy. I would just about bet anything that she is, if not of genius IQ, than certainly intelligent enough to have the entire world buy into her act. If it wasn't for all of YOU who feel so strongly one way or the other about her (love her or despise her) she wouldn't be able to make a living as she does.
Not a fan per se - just some food for thought.

Excuse me -- brilliant? Had it not been for that sex video and the last name of Hilton, there would be no "brand name" to speak of. Ms. Hilton makes most of her money by slapping her name on the box of merchandise that other people create design, and manufacture. She has to be the most disrespected "celebrity" out there, today. And as far as her "brilliance" is concerned, her father bankrolled her some time ago so that she could acquire the assistance of people to promote her, and to do the marketing end, etc. It’s well known just who buys this over-priced merchandise. So much for creating "her empire" on her own. There are also the revenues she receives from the sales of her sex tape with Solomon.

She continues to prove her disingenuous character and lack of integrity by lying to the general public almost every time she gives an interview. I don't consider being booed at the Spike Awards, and being snubbed at theatres nation-wide when people simply failed to show up to see her film to be much of a success. She is not famous – she is infamous, and that’s a pretty shallow legacy.

71. #65 - I'm sorry, where in my post did I say she was brilliant? I said she has done a brilliant job of branding herself. And she has. I don't care who bank rolled her or who actually produces the merchandise. Fact is - without her branding (and yes, that means absolutely capitalizing on her last name) she wouldn't be selling that merchandise and creating so much tabloid fodder that people like you - the haters - love to revel in. Like I said, I'm not a fan, but as someone in marketing I have to acknowledge that her execution of her brand is impressive.

As a side note - this forum is for anybody to express their opinions. I'm not trying to sway anybody and I don't really appreciate the snotty and overly superior manner in which you responded to me. I respect your opinion and I expect mine to be respected as well.

But I don’t think McCain has anything to fear from someone who thinks that West Africa is a country, and that Rwanda is “a dangerous place,” and that she might have to eat candy bars. Enough said.
