The ad features a severely Photoshopped Beyonce -- almost unrecognizable. So the question ...

226. I don't think she looks "white", just very light skinned. I've seen her look darker than the picture on the left as well! Perhaps they wanted to portray the color of the hair as perfectly as possible (in order to make the product appealing to the consumers) and a way to do that was lighten the skin tone. I don't believe they were trying to send the message "white is better" in any way at all. But I guess they figured that this particular hair color would be highlighted best if you had this particular skin tone, so they lightened her skin. That's all. And thnk about it, if you have a certain skin tone, it won't look right with all hair colors. For example, my skin tone would NOT work with blonde hair. Plain and simple. No discrimination/hate there.

And I know I'm not African American, so maybe it just doesn't affect me as much, but if it really bothers you, be mad at Beyonce. That's not even her hair anyways. This ad isn't offensive, it isn't an equivalent to a racial slur. It's sad that photos these days are photoshopped and touched up in such ridiculous amounts, but that's the way it is in the entertainment industry. To be honest, if there were a white woman on her, and her skin was darkened for the ad, there would be no fuss. Sorry if that's "politically incorrect" but this is all a bunch of bull. Just my opinion.

227. ALL commercials and ads alter the appearance of the models featured to appeal to either the widest possible demographic, or to a specific demographic. Notice that in the Rachel Ray commericals and ads for Dunkin Donuts, she appears to be Latina, ie, somewhere in the "happy middle". It's sort of ridiculous when you consider that they hire (at a huge cost) celebrities BECAUSE people already recognize them!
That being said, black, white or gold (for she is nothing if not the Golden Girl), Beyonce is the prettiest girl on the planet.

228. Why would L'Oreal bother? Beyonce's natural skin color is absolutely beautiful, whether the observer is white or black!

229. Who cares about what Beyonce looks like. She's still a no talanted B*tch and her songs are all horrible.

230. Settle down, people. Don't you know this is just another one of those silly TMZ stories to get people going. They make up crap like this - things you could care less about and try to make a big deal out of it. They intrude in private lives - take photos of people in their homes - invasive pictures that should be no one's business - and blow it up to a scandal that never happened. TMZ and other scandal rags like them should be ashamed and for sure, there should be laws against invasion of privacy. Hopefully they're working on a Bill now that will prevent vulchers/paps, etc. to stop this horrible invasion of privacy and making up rumors.

232. Blacks have been trying to look white for years with nose jobs, hair straightening, skin lightening, etc. Beyonce' is no different. If she was, she wouldn't wear straight hair wigs of alltogether non-black colors. Yet, there was the recent article about Vogue's "black issue" and everyone crowed that it was about time dark skinned women were recognized as being beautiful. As for that particular pic of Beyonce', she has people that approve them. Surely, she doesn't have a team of all white people working for her. Double standards are often double-edged.

233. If this is a slight on blacks then I guess blacks can thank Micheal Jackson, (whose choice it was to try to pass himself off as white) for starting this whole thing . Why? Only he knows for sure and he not talking!

234. She looks so much more beautiful with dark skin, and I am a Caucasian woman. Shame on both the company and Beyonce for this ridiculous failed attempt to change a far more naturally beautiful persona.

235. SHE WANTS TO BE WHITE...........................you know it girl......................FESS UP......LMAO

236. Geeeeez. A lot of you act like this is the first time Beyonce or any other famous woman of color has been lightened on ads or other things. I'm not saying it's right, because I think they should be shown in their true color. But there have been plenty of times I've seen Beyonce a lot lighter than what she really is. Good grief, TMZ/AOL. You guys are really struggling to come up with garbage to talk about these days.

237. who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

238. Beyonce does commercials for hair dye when it's obvious the only hair she dyes is her weave/wig. She dyes it blonde so for all we know she approved having her skin lightened to look White. Maybe for her it's all about the green and she doesn't care what she has to do to get paid. Even if it means looking White. Is it a slap in the face of Blacks? Yes, it is. But is it a big deal? No, it's her life and if she wants to play it White that's her choice. If you don't like it, don't buy her CDs or the products she endorses. Hit her where it hurts, in the wallet. That will get her attention.

239. I think this is a lot about nothing. I've seen other celeberties colored differently. There is an ad currently running on television with Drew Barrymore and her color is much darker than it normally is. Does this mean she's an insult to the White race? NO, it is just an ad trying to give an different edge to selling the product, unless the product is meant to lighten your skin. Furthermore, I see people trying to change their looks all the time. Look at what people do to their hair color and texture. What a person looks like, especially the color of there skin, should not be regarded a reflection of one's loyality to one's race. How stupid and superficial if this is the belief.

240. First of all, everyone is assuming the Beyonce ads are for hair color, but L"Oreal makes make-up as well so they could be for that. Secondly, as others have stated, lighter skinned Black folks get darker in the summer just like White folks. I have two sets of foundation for that reason,a summer color and a winter color. This is no big deal.
