The ad features a severely Photoshopped Beyonce -- almost unrecognizable. So the question ...

271. If Beyonce wants lighter skin, who's business is it? Just like a "white" person tanning to get darker, its their business. People have the right to be who they want to be, if they can.

272. A lot of cosmetics commercials lighten skin tone. It's easier to hide blemishes and imperfections. It's like turning the contrast up on your camera. Also, her hair is blonde in that commercial, should that be considered a slap to the blacks, too?

273. I love the first comment, keep cashing those checks, she has a weave! Rock on Beyonce and she isnt the one who did the photoshopping, most of these people dont see the ads until they air or publish. So not their fault. They did the same thing to Kiera Knightly, they gave her breasts for an ad for a movie, she never approved it and she refuses to get a breast job just for Hollywood. We all know they do this, none of these girls are perfect so they photoshop them so we can get anorexia to try and look perfect or over eat because we are depressed we dont look that good. And one last thing, Beyonce always shows pure dignity and grace, she is such a great role model. She is so smart, Kudos to her! Now, Im going to eat a sandwich and 5 bags of chips............

274. I agree 100% with Nikki and a number of others who suggest that L'Oréal's hiring this super talented and gorgeous model who happens also to be an actress, a singer, and a black woman, in no way suggests that the company is marketing to black women. How many black women look like Beyoncé? What is more, I am happy that a biracial woman is finally in charge of her career and billing top dollar without being at the bad end of a relationship that merely uses her. I quote Nikki: "keep cashing them checks, B.!" Not every issue is black OR white; sometimes issues involve neither distinctly but rather both combined, in a THIRD option, or fourth: Mexican, or fifth: Cuban, or sixth: Chinese, or seventh: Korean, or eighth: Dominican, or ninth: Thai or, okay, you get my point. Let's COMPLEXIFY and avoid SIMPLIFYING and REDUCING everything to black or white. Hell, we blacks and whites are going to be only 60% of the population come a few years. Let's ENJOY diversity in all of its shades, hues, and colors.

275. If this is such a disgrace towards Beyonce and blacks then why doesn't Beyonce take off her wig and show off her natural hair. people really need to get over the racist issue. It seems that there is always an issue when it comes to blacks. If a white model came out in a picture showing up darker than her normal color, I am sure she wouldn't make a big deal out of it neither would other white people. I am sorry, people get over it the Martin Luther King days are over. There is still alot of racisim amongst the blacks in general and white people also for that matter. Forget about the past and go on with the present. This article sounds more like a pesonal issue to me. It's got nothing to do with Loreal wanting Beyonce to look white. Why would they? When there are so many beautiful white woman out there? Why use Beyone to make her whiter. Besides Beyonce is very light skin anyway.

276. Actually the second picture is more closer to Beyounce's skin tone thasn the first picture. I immediately recognized Beyounce in the second picture but had I not been told that the first picture was also Beyounce I would have not known because that first picture does not look like Beyounce because of tghe darker hair and darker skin. Beyounce has not had that hair color even when she was a teenager if her hair was ever that dark then it was in a movie or something and therefore to match the dark hair they gave her they also must have bronzed her skin with a bronzer. Trust me the second picture is closer to her skin tone and her current hair color. Also even though she wears many wigs on stage Beyounce DOES have very long thick hair that under contract she must maintain. Her Loreal contract says they can inspect her hair at any time for damage or cutting which could void that multi million dollar contract she has with them if her hair shows signs of damage, cutting or mistreatment.

277. Why did they do that her skin color is great the way it was.Very pretty brown. She don't look so hot as a white woman.Though its also a pretty color just not for her.

278. Beyonce is the slap in the face to blacks. she's a money grubber. egotistical celebrity. it has nothing to do with being black or white. she's all about the green.

279. I think people try to find things to pick apart about others all the time. So what, if they altered her color or made her skin look lighter on the picture. The main people who are talking about her and judging is not 100% true. In fact, most probably wear fake hair and or fake lashes from time to time. I think we as people love to pick each other apart, but fail to pick ourselves apart. I am also tired of the Michael Jackson thing too, it is so old. If you had the money and didn't like something, I'm sure you'd change it too. If you say you wouldn't, then you probably have changed something already by adding things too yourself. I think it is a sad and lifeless person who sits and picks others apart, am I describing you.

280. Ok, after reading these comments, I DONT think blacks are ready for a black president, the black people will resent him for being too white. If a photo is touched up or if he acts a certain way, he is not black enough. Some people are voting for him ONLY because he has a black skin tone. It seems it doesnt matter what kind of man he is, good or bad, he has to be black and act black or he is not good enough. Even Jesse Jackson is saying crap about him. If a man has dignity, that should be good enough, but you want his skin color and his actions to be a certain way to represent blacks. Would an ad of him eating fried chicken, wearing a wife beater and having tattoos and being gangster make him a better black? What a bunch of horrible people in the USA, you are never happy and you hate and degrade everyone else. No better than 200 years ago and you think we have advanced? No, blacks are more racist than anyone.

STOP worrying about what everybody else is doing. Oh and My whole Family is comfortable being nude around each other. unless your a perv or selfconsious it shouldnt matter.it would make it not such a big deal to everyone if it was the norm.

282. Is EVERYTHING about race?! Beyonce is a beautiful woman with outstanding black features... maybe it was just the lighting... haven't you ever taken a picture with the wrong lighting? Good grief! I do not think they were trying to make her look "white". "A Slap to Blacks"? Don't be ridiculous... our society is over-sensitive... IMHO

283. Beyonce is too dark in the first photo. She is light skinned anyway. Depending on how the light is falling on her depends how light/dark she looks. She is a beautiful woman

Posted at 7:39PM on Aug 6th 2008 by Etta

284. Of course this was intentional! The media wants to convey that the differences between races are practically non-existant. The whole "melting pot" idea. Well, it appears to me that Beyonce' is a good example of different races "melted" together. There are caucasians in America that are dying their hair black and going to tanning salons and claiming to be of Hispanic descent. It's become a collective idea that it is shameful to be caucasian. Don't you know that Beyonce'? The less white you look in America, the better! Plus, isn't it "racist" to acknowledge race at all?!

285. She's beautiful. Photography comes in varying degrees of tone and color, as does our skin tones.
