Edwards Admits Affair, Says Enquirer Was Right

He's a liar! Former Presidential candidate John Edwards has admitted to lying about having an extramarital affair with a former staffer.

In an interview with ABC's "Nightline" that airs tonight, Edwards admits he had a sexual affair with 44-year-old Rielle Hunter, but claims he did not love her.

Edwards does say, however, that he knows he is not the baby daddy of Hunter's little girl based on the "timing" of the kid's birth in February of this year. He claims the tryst ended too soon for him to be the dad, although he has not taken a paternity test.

And the story gets better ...

Hunter met Edwards at a bar in 2006. After their meeting, his campaign paid her $114,000 to create campaign spots, even though she was fairly unqualified to do so. According to Edwards, he made sure to tell Hunter that his wife's cancer was in remission before they hooked up. How big of him.

The National Enquirer first broke the story of the alleged affair last October. At that time, Edwards hooted and hollered that the story was "false," adding "It's completely untrue, it's ridiculous." He even repeated that denial two weeks ago after the Enquirer updated their story reporting that Edwards and Hunter met up at a Bev Hills hotel. He admits in the interview the story was right.

And get this, Edwards says he never paid Hunter to keep her mouth shut, but admitted it was possible that some of his friends did without telling him.

32.
politics are a 2nd
rate hollywood;

just above game show
host and reverends.

like any type or form of " celebrity ",
they too get their fill of willing girls.

as with ALL woman who are attracted to fame,
they will do ANYTHING to stake their claim.

short of a lawsuit to collect some sort of paycheck,
they will indeed push out a child to attach themselves to
their " famous " moments & ideally profit from the experience.........

33. Well, TMZ, you finally published something about this story .. and don't say because you were waiting for confirmation. If he were a republican, you would have been all over it. Point #2, jerk is still lying! We all know that is his kid. Why was he visiting her again a couple of weeks ago if affair was over. So decent of him to let Rielle know his wife was in remission when he began affair.

34. If it were a Rebublican who did this we wouldn't have to read it on a celeb & gossip rag it would be breaking news on the MSM.

39. The extramarital affair is endemic of the culture we live in, it is beyond the political party
that they represent, one cannot say the Democratic Party condones adultery and the GOP
hides adultery, it is beyond that, adultery is the fault of the individual character. This is a huge
let down for all of those who supported him. The person who is hurting the most is his children
and his wife.

40. The truth is, few political figures don't lie. Being honest and candid with the public is unfortunately not an ethical behavior anymore.

I'm a Democrat, and this CLOWN Edwards should be removed from office. When is society going to wake up and put a stop to all of this non-sense. A law should be passed by Congress that says all political figures who lie to the American people are removed from their position immediately. Why can't government officials be held as accountable as non-government employees. It's no wonder the best country in the world, the U.S.A. gets such a bad rap around the world.

41. I thought Edwards was a little too pretty to be pres, I got a phony vibe from his as well.. I feel sorry for his family and his wife for his putting them through this. So utterly selfish.

44.
His wife is dying and he's bangin' some chick. Thats real nice! I hope Elizabeth leaves him immediately.

And we all know that Obama blackmailed Edwards with knowledge of the affair to get his endorsement over Clinton. Edwards positions were much more in line w/ Hillary's than Obama's….if Edwards actually endorsed on position, then he would have endorsed Hillary. But naturally, Obama and his dirty style of politics, swooped in and threatened to leak news of the affair! As a result, Johnny Boy came running to endorse Barack.

45. I was working at a bookstore where he set up a signing event for his book. He was a complete and total a**hole. He didn't even stay the whole time he was scheduled to be there. Before the signing started, he ignored everyone except to whisper to his monions. He was very rude. I knew then that I would never vote for a phony like him. This story doesn't surprise me.
