Who is the Man -- Dead at 65

Musician Isaac Hayes -- who wrote the theme song for "Shaft" -- died this afternoon in a Memphis hospital.

According to WMC, a Shelby County sheriff's deputy responded to call from Hayes' wife after she found him on the floor near a treadmill inside their home.

Hayes was taken to Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, and was pronounced dead at 2:08 PM. Cops are investigating, but do not believe foul play was a factor.

48. I've only read the TMZ story and not all the comments, but WMC-TV here in Memphis reported that Mr. Hayes died this afternoon at 2:08 PM. Not in the AM as TMZ is reporting at this moment. I know it doesn't make too much difference, but it's good to have the facts straight.

50. you can't hate scientology that bad can't you clam hater? Scientology sucks but people make their choices.Someone said god was calling him and i think that was not good to say cause he was a scientologist but who knows where he'll go.

55. Memphis lost another awesome entertainer today. I will miss you greatly Isaac. Also, Elvis week began today in Memphis. I'm sure the city is already packed with people. Now this.

59. I guess Sir Isaac Hayes is finding out whether Scientology is a bogus "religion" about right now.. Regardless of whether he got entangled into a "religion" like that --- I still enjoyed his work. He had an amazing voice.. I can't say this is entirely shocking - he had a stroke in 2006 and wasn't in the greatest health.. It's still very sad.
