Hudgens Accused of Being a Big Stiff

Vanessa Hudgens sent a photo of herself to a guy and inscribed it with this: "Johnny, thank you for everything, without you, I would be no where, we will make it BIG- Vanessa Hudgens. Sweet." Now Johnny is suing her.

According to the lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Johnny Vieira claims in May 2005, he and Hudgens entered into a production agreement to launch Vanessa's career. Vieira claims they had a deal to "share equally" in the fruits of their labor. He says the agreement was approved by the court because she was a minor.

Vieira says after "High School Musical" became a hit, she dumped him and they entered into a settlement agreement. He says she's been violating that deal and owes him more than $2 million.

Johnny on the spot is suing for more than $5 mil.

16. Contracts made by minors are voidable by the minor. No ands ifs or buts.

17. 4. "I'm not an attorney (surprise, surprise) but I know minors can
back out of contracts and nothing can be done about it. That's why
adult co-signers are often required. I don't know anything about how
the law works in entertainment agreements or whatever it's called.
What would court approved mean? If a minor can break a contract then
that makes no difference I would think. Anyone know, can someone call
a friend or relative? Harvey Levin should answer this for all of us
fine readers."

20. You're all too lazy to look up the law. If you review California contract law and the rules for minors, unless her parents were recognized as her legal guardians by the court and signed the agreement that is the only way the contract could be potentially binding. Even so, she's entitled to 100% of her money as opposed to a percentage going to her parents.
More facts are needed before a verdict can be rendered.

28. let me try this again.
This case is not for 5 million, but I believe 9 counts totaling 27 million, plus punitive damage....... Maybe Johny Vieira is trying to get a out of court settlement for a large sum........ But the issue is, whether Johny vieira was an "employer", or a "talent agency".... this makes a big difference. There is a contracts with minors act of 1969 and a coogans act of contracting with minors in about 1939, I believe.... not fully researched yet............BUT I also believe their is a "talent agency act" which is real important in this case....... Maybe harvey could take a look at some of the code sections and validate my points on this case, if I am capable of posting on this website.

29. first off she is a minor and she should be backed by the child entertainment laws that are set fup for someone that was a minor and the only reason he is going after thee 5 million is because she made the Forbes top 100 earning $5.8 million.

Give us a break Hollowood Records had the producers brought in, because Vanessa had know say on the music she sang on her first CD.
Also in May 2005 she hadn't been hired by Disney and 2nd she went on the addition recommended by another girl. She has stated that. Look at all of these people that come out of the wood work to take the money from Stars and that picture isn't a binding contract.

You know that people like this have to go after someone who is finally getting their life in order so that they can bring them down. And whose to say that he didn't have her write wait she did. Also that signature sure looks a little different then all the ones that I have seen in popstar and on pictures that she signs.

This is so wrong to do this, wait oh lets say till she is making more money so that we can go after more if she really owes him 2 milliion, then that is all she should have to pay.

30. I feel sorry for this guy, it's obvious he is not doing very well to come up with a dirty little ploy like this after so long.
Sound's to me like a very desperate attempt at getting a piece of the pie that Vnnessa has made for herself with her own hard work and determination. Sure, she has had quite a bit of help over the years from many people but it is her own talent that has got her where she is now and after High School Musical she has had many projects and maybe felt she needed to move in another direction without this guy as he was obviously not right for her and her career.
Vanessa could have entered into some type of agreement but this note is definately not a written agreement of any kind. This clearly states that she is grateful for the help with her career but does not state in any way that she will return this gratitude in money. Girl's can be naive when they ae younger and write notes etc and this will be taken into concideration and I dont think that this note can be taken in any way as a written agreement of payment.

American law is very different to British law and or that reason it could go either way. This in my opinion should not even go to court as it's very silly and should be thrown out in my opinion as it's very clear what he is after in this case. It's so silly and would be treated as such in a British court of law, it seem's to me that in Ameruca these day's people can sue for just about anything, come in with next to no eveidence and they may win for no apparent reason.

I hope that the judge throws this out of court if not he will see it for what it really is, a money grabbing attempt if ever I saw one.

Vanessa has definately paid her dues in the last few year's for some naive mistakes but his guy is a leech and should be treated like one.
