Jury Sides With God, Pastor's Wife Cleared

Megachurch preacher's wife Victoria Osteen did not assault a flight attendant over a stain on her first class seat, a civil jury in Texas has ruled.

The jurors rejected Sharon Brown's claims that pastor Joel Osteen's wife caused her mental and physical harm -- even giving her hemorrhoids-- by going off on her on a 2005 flight from Houston to Vail, Colo.

Brown had said Miss Victoria went berserk when a spill on the armrest of her seat wasn't cleaned up quickly enough. Brown said the preacher's wife slammed her against the lavatory door, and elbowed her in the breast as she rushed the cockpit. A jury unanimously decided Brown's story was full of holy baloney and awarded her zilch.

Brown had sued for 10% of Osteen's net worth.

151. i think the lawsuit was stupid but osteen does look like a bitch. what they do has nothing to do with "god" and everything to do with money.

152. #147 You would not feel the way you do about Victoria if you spent time with her in social situations. Victoria can and does come acorss like a huge bitch. Victoria makes sure everybody knows how special she is. I will assure you she does not have as much money available to her as my wife and my wife is a sweet loving person.Money and power do not make a person special!!!

153. "This is your Captain, Mary, speaking. We've encountered some onboard turbulence that may last a few Christian minutes ahead. Please send all the diapers and flotation devices back to seat 7C so we can mop up the spills and selfishness before I have to go back there and lay a harsh whoopin on that stupid wench's backside with a broken prop blade like the old days. Other than that, if you notice out the left side windows, we are now flying over the Osteen church and dropping paint bombs on it, and by golly, the navigator is up 4 more points on me, looks like he landed some red paint on the cross. That's surrealistic and we'll just have to do a swing around again here, and we'll see if we can drop some yellow paint on the pastor's building, since that little dweeb ain't got the spine to reel in his wife in public at any altitude. Enjoy the rest of the flight and thanks for flying with Magdalene Airlines!"

155. Don't judge all christians by these people. IF she did in fact throw a temper trantrum, which I can believe she wasn't being a good christian example. Anyone who can't wipe off their armrest is pathetic and any pastor who has millions has his morals out of line.

Jesus was the son of a poor carpenter and not a rich man. He gave his life for people and didn't cash in on people.

156. Another Jim and Tammy Faye. Get real people can you hear the sucking sound. The 2 people will suck your life savings from you. Stop giving con artists their own show. ENOUGH is ENOUGH already.

158. You need to put this in the right context and stop being so naive. There are people out there just waiting to prey on those who are vulnerable, and when you are in the limelight, you are just that person. Just refer to the con artists who who perpetuate the "slip and fall" in the stores and on the streets everyday. They just wait for the right moment; this was Ms. Brown's right moment. She conjured up the most outrageous charges that would make anybody in their right mind say that she's an opportunist con artist. Did you also see that she had breast implants after the scuffle. Hmmmm.. good way to get them paid for.

Also, for you people who want to rip Joel Osteen to shreds for his wealth... take a look at what he does. He is a religious man, but he is also a motivational speaker. Not the hell, fire and brimstone grim, greedy preachers you refer to here. How much do regular motivational speakers on the circuit make? Plenty! And if you think this is such easy work, maybe you should get out there and try it and his schedule yourself!! Judge not... you know how that one goes. It just shows your pettiness to be jealous of what someone else has.

Also, I subscribe to Joel Osteen's daily newsletter, and they NEVER solicit me for money. That is just not their way! His motivational messages are very nice way to start the day and remind you how to treat others and what your purpose on this earth is all about. Everyone of you who are so bitter and disillusioned ought to try it and honestly APPLY IT. It just might make you better person and teach you to be less bitter towards life in general!

161. Those of you who are lambasting and insulting the Osteens are obviously JEALOUS and envious!!! I don't go to their church and I don't watch them on television, but I know who they are. There WAS NO incident on that plane and Mrs. Osteen did NOT throw a fit, and she was NOT thrown off the plane...by the way, it was NOT in the air...this all supposedly happened before liftoff. THREE of the first class passengers who were sitting right up front and ONE of the pilots all testified that they saw and heard nothing other than Mrs. Osteen asking to have the spot removed. Regardlesf of what you think of her money and her appearance, Brown is a LIAR who thought she saw an easy way to get rich. Oh, one more thing, the Osteens do NOT live off the money given to the church. Joel Osteen has written several successful books and that is what they live on...he does NOT take a salary from the church offerings.

162. First of all, this is a site that solicits comments and opinions. Everyone has one, and is entitled to it. I am so sick and tired of the comments most people make - apparently when they can't come up with anything else. If you ever decide you don't like someone, or don't agree with them, or don't agree with the way they conduct their lives (The Osteens in this case) and post that comment, you're automatically jealous! Please!!! That argument is so freaking TIRED. I do not like the Osteens - something about them just gives me the willies. I don't like his message, and from all accounts his wife IS a hoity-toity piece of work, although I do think Brown was out to con THEM. I think he's a false prophet, bringing the message people want to hear, not what they NEED to hear, and that CRAP about how God wants to make you wealthy is just that - CRAP. God wants you to have life, and "have it more abundantly", but I don't think God's main message is "Get As Rich As You Can," I don't begrudge them their wealth, I just don't buy into the hype. Every time I see him, I think of the line in one of Stephen King's Novels, "The Stand" about the final battle between Good and Evil, and how each side is forced to make a stand. God's side keeps getting messages of: "The rat's in the corn", while the clueless other side is following their glowing leader who promises them the world, but eventually will lead them only to damnation. Osteen just seems like the "rat in the corn" - he even looks like vermin - beady, black-eyed, with a crooked smile,- and many are following him. Each to your own - but please stop saying that everybody is jealous. We ALL ARE NOT.

163. Abt Vic's behaviors, I can actually say that Sharon's statement about Vic's action is true. I'm a local and been to the church... many times people, along I, actually like to speak to the pastor and/or wife, but were not allowed to. They have more than 3-5 bodyguards, and on some days even more. You're not allowed to take pictures without standing in line waiting to have permission to do so, even then you might not be able to due to "limited" amount of people seen. If you want personal time, you better have the money and be on a waitlist that's more than 2 years before you're seen (some really need help and have died before are able to).
Trust me, their big air-time, nationally-known celebrity status has gotten to their heads more than you know. If you want proof yourself, just fly out to Houston, get on S.59 to the church and see for yourself. That's all I have to say. I don't want to JUDGE, but they are making it hard for me not to.

164. There are times when I think one or more persons have been a pain in the behind, but being the cause of hemmoroids because someone was upset during their job? Here's what my take is: I have to deal with all kinds of rude, insensitive people in my line of work. I have never sued them for 10% of their net worth. No matter if this person did this or not, taking care of matters during a flight WAS her job. I believe if she would have caused the ruckus purported to have happened here, there would have been an arrest at the end of the flight. I think was a frivolous lawsuit and a waste of taxpayers' money. Hemmorroids, indeed!

165. The native Hawaiians had a very interesting comment about the missionary families who came to "convert" them. Thet said that the missionaries came to do GOOD and they did very WELL. Their descendants are among the wealthiest people in Hawaii,
