Bigfoot's Reality Got SasSquashed

Surprise, surprise -- the whole Bigfoot finding was a hoax. DNA tests proved that one of the two samples of DNA taken came from a human, and the other was 96 percent from an opossum.
Bigfoot
We all should have known -- since the real Bigfoot resides in Malibu -- and responds to the name Brad Garrett.

16. Well once again a big letdown. I figured that since one of them was a police officer that MAYBE this time it could be true. Because why would he put his reputation on the line. I guess being a police officer gave him access to human tissue from an accident maybe. Thus the human DNA.

17. I don't see how anyone could be sceptical of such compelling evidence.

18. how can they get away with this? i thought it might be true, because of the picture, they said MEGAN KELLY could view it first hand, we will see,

19. How come news outlets like CNN have not updated the public on the DNA testing results? Where did TMZ get their info? I think they made it up.

20. #4...

if they didn't seem dishonest to you... you should watch some of the youtube videos where they're making a big joke out of it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMEsD3_J2DQ&feature=related

What's sad is, these hillbillies got exactly what they want.

15 seconds of fame.

Also, the reason they didn't want to give pictures is because it was a COSTUME. One you can buy at a costume store for $300. and if they took too many good quality pictures... they'd have been found out sooner.

ALSO... this isn't like a witness to a serious crime where people shut down and freak out. They're HUNTERS. They're the ones who supposedly "Kill" animals. This is what they've been supposedly working for all their lives.

you're telling me they'd pass on millions of dollars because they "Shut down" like they're in some shock?

PLEASE!!!

22. anyone who believes this is half man half ape needs to grow up, its fake, DNA was of a possum, they are trailer trash, and need to get a life

23. Hey Mayu,

I did watch the You Tube videos and they addressed that at the conference. They were just having fun with the people who were ripping them apart. They even said that they were waiting for people to pick up that it was his brother shown in earlier videos. The one you specifically linked to wasn't created by the men, they said. It isn't even under their You Tube account. I mean, if this turns out to be a total hoax, I swear I will personally eat my own words, but I just think that it is too soon to be ripping them apart. Sure, its easy to call them hillbillies, but if it happened in Oregon we would have just called them lunatics, or in New Mexico - new age morons. Where they are from is irrelevant. They didnt seem like chaw chewing hillbillies to me.

Yes, it is like what happens when I interview people who are living their lives one moment and the next moment are flooded with attention. It is the same reaction to a murder, a high profile crime, a hero and a great discovery. I don't see how the fact that they are hunters makes them any less of a human... do you? Unless you are a vegetarian then that meat at the supermarket is probably treated worse than the meat they bring home in their freezers. Besides, they said there were camping and WERE NOT ARMED.

It is so much easier to just call it a costume and rip them apart. Of course there has been hoaxes in the past, for one, that moron with the alien mask and that weird decayed raccoon on Long Island. But why do we give it our fullest attention? Because at some point we know something really cool is going to happen and show all of us skeptics that life is just neat sometimes. Are they gonna pass on a million dollars - hell no. But they are probably doing what I would do and waiting for the highest bid to come it.

You know I am right dude. Because anyone who reads this forum knows I am so far away from the title of "optimist" it hurts.

24. it scares me to think that these guys are involved in law enforcement. and gee! what a coincedence that they happen to operate an online "bigfoot store" and have told THREE different stories about how they found it? one story contradicting the other? i guess these two lunkheads thought they could fool science. so which one of them surrendered their dna to the monkey suit? and will they be charged with fraud for wasting the time of the scientists and media that really should be concentrating on other things? i friggin hope so!

25. I am shocked! I guess all those 8' ape looking creatures that lurk around my back yard are opossums. I
bet these two guys will have a lot of new found respect in their hometown.

28. Yes Banana Hammock it does bother me. - someone want to explain where the human DNA came from -

Posted at 5:36PM on Aug 16th 2008 by Betty

29. What is Really amazing is that some of these UFO hunters, etc. actually get a weekly paycheck to
go out and "look" for these creatures. Some are self financed, but some receive money from various
individuals and organizations to do their research.
My favorite example is a guy who was getting funding
to find the Lock Ness Monster. He found something that looked like a baby Lock Ness (but was probably
driftwood) and guess what? He "ran out of money" and will have to come back next year to research
if further. Come on! This guy had ship to shore radio, a cell phone and state of the art communication
equipment and he could not call and raise $5000 to stay for one more day?

30. What about the third DNA sample which was inconclusive?

I'm not saying that I necessarily believe these guys, but I love how TMZ misrepresents the facts to make some sweeping and unsubstantiated conclusions.
