R.I.P.
Dave Matthews Band Member Dead

TMZ has learned LeRoi Moore, the sax player in the Dave Matthews Band, has died. He was 46.

Moore was seriously injured in an ATV accident June 30 outside Charlottesville. He had a punctured lung and broken ribs. Moore went back into the hospital last month due to complications.

Moore died in Los Angeles this afternoon, after taking a turn for the worse.

We're also told the band will perform tonight as scheduled at the Staples Center in L.A.

UPDATE: A rep for the Band just gave TMZ the following statement:

"LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. Moore had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program."

152. Such a sad day. I have seen DMB 8 times live, the most recent being only a month ago. The show was much different without LeRoi, and it saddens my heart that he will not be returning to the stage.

LeRoi, your music will live in the hearts of your fans forever! My heart aches for all who knew him, for the band, for his family.

What a sad, sad day.

153. #12 You are an ass. They played last night in tribute of Leroi. If you were a DMB fan you would know thats what he would have wanted. I saw them in Cuyahoga Falls and Cincy. They were awesome. Yes it would have been a complete show if Leroi was there but he wasnt. Leroi left big shoes to fill and will NEVER be re placed fully, ALONG WITH EVERY MEMBER OF DMB!He will always be remembered for his acomplishments. RIP LEROI I LOVE YOU GUYS!

155. The show last night was the most emotional event I have ever been a part of. I first saw DMB in vegas in 1992 open up for the Dead. We all fell in love with there great music and awsome live shows. We have been to over 50 shows and feel like tthe band is like part of our family. This day was as sad as the day Jerry died. RIP LeRoi. Rock on Dave! Carter, Boyde and Stephan. You are all in our heats.

157. The band played as a tribute to him, the true fans understand that as much as they would have the band not playing at all.

You will be missed LeRoi. You touched many people's hearts

158. Of course the L.A. show was the appropriate thing to do. I just lost my dad, but he lived a long life and it was his time to go with the angels. Leroi was my age, and it's very very sad to see someone with his vigor for life, his talents and his contributions to the band leave us so suddenly. Although tragic and hard for anyone to accept, the band will remain and hopefully draw strength from Leroi's passing. Hang in there DMB members.

160. If anyone has never seen this band they must, they are so different and have such a wide variety of music styles. I am 48 years old and I could not live without their music. Le Roi was a very accomplishment musician and will be greatly missed. I am sure he would want the band to go on with their tour if possible. Some of you think again, can you not imagine how incredibly hard this is for the band members and everyone involved with this tour. Dave and the rest I am sure are very very saddened we all need to grieve with them and think of LeRoi's family. Good bless him and his family and his friends and his many many admirers.

162. He was so great, his solo on Jungleland and Rosalita were so inpirational to me. I know he did a lot of good, now, he'll take his
silver trumpet up to the others. RIP Big Man

163. As a fan, I would have understood if they had to cancel their concert, after all they only found out he died suddenly hours before. . Nobody can tell from a distance what their emotions were, so I won't pass judgement on that, but it sure strikes me badly that they were able to perform Tuesday night. Maybe they were just in shook.

Play with the angels, Leroi, wish I had seen you again. Will never forget you---you are irrereplacable.

164. OK comment number 12 you are a juckass, he would have would have wanted them to play. If you knew ANYTHING about the band you would know that. BTW, They had no control and probably didnt even know the bus dumped the waste.
