R.I.P.
Dave Matthews Band Member Dead

TMZ has learned LeRoi Moore, the sax player in the Dave Matthews Band, has died. He was 46.

Moore was seriously injured in an ATV accident June 30 outside Charlottesville. He had a punctured lung and broken ribs. Moore went back into the hospital last month due to complications.

Moore died in Los Angeles this afternoon, after taking a turn for the worse.

We're also told the band will perform tonight as scheduled at the Staples Center in L.A.

UPDATE: A rep for the Band just gave TMZ the following statement:

"LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. Moore had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program."

61. Calm down, 150,000 people die every day around the world, and soon, you, and I will be part of that number!! Just think, before you know it, it will be 100 years into the future and you, I, and this text will not be remembered by anyone. Ok, have a good night.

62. This is a tragedy. LeRoi was an amazingly talented musician, and the world will be a lesser place without him. I believe that the band is in fact playing in his memory, and they will find a way to honor his life tonight at the show. My thoughts are with LeRoi(God rest his soul), his family, the entire band and crew and their families, and to the fans, who have had the honor and priviledge to see this man perform. I feel very blessed to have been in his presence 24 times, having met him twice...and to top it all off, I was lucky enough to see him play at Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, VA, on June 28th, 2008 just 2 days before his, what ended up being a fatal ATV accident. His spirit will live on forever, and will be on stage with the band everynight.....peace, love and DMB....Rest in Peace LeRoi....rest in peace....

63. Roi, I have seen you live almost 20 times. You were the reason I started listening to this band in the first place. All that you have done for those in need, all the hearts you have touched and all your good deeds will make you live in our hearts forever. God bless your family, including the band members who will be destroyed by your loss. You are already so very missed :(

65. I was at the Charlotte, NC show- the first show played after LeRoi's accident- and Dave said they had spoken to him and he was doing better. We chanted "We want Roi! We want Roi" (which I wondered if it made the "fill in" feel bad because he had done an awsome job!) Anyway, as a lifelong DMB fan, I am very sad for the family and for the band. I am pleased to hear that the band chose to play tonight, however. They are his closest friends and they know best what he would want as far as that goes.

66. I am sorry, this is a very sad day. I find it quite disheartening that there are so many selfish thoughts being posted. We are all in shock as fans, there are many questions and concerns for our own situations, although in truth, a foundation of this band has moved on. The only place for judgement in any real persons mind should be put aside to the decisions of the bands individual respects. I will continue to hear his melodic breath, his pure sense of timing and his unique ability to share his gifts with the world. He has given so much to the fans. Peace and blessings to his family.

68. Didn't an ATV accident almost kill Ozzie Osborne not too long ago? Looks like fun I suppose, but dang those things do not seem to be safe.

69. I am so heart-broken! My boyfriend is at the Staples Center in LA for the DMB show (right now!) and called to have me confirm the news he'd heard. We have been fans for over 10 years and we love those guys (Dave, Carter, LeRoi, Stefan, & Boyd) like family...I wish the DMB Family peace in this extremely sad time.

I feel GRATEFUL that I have had the opportunity to enjoy LeRoi's live performances many times and that the music he's made can live forever in his recordings (with and without Dave Matthews Band)...

r.i.p LeRoi

72. I am in complete shock. Roi is such an important part of this band. I have been lucky to experience the energy Roi brings to DMB shows for the past 10 years. I know the band will play in his honor tonight. My thoughts are with Roi's friends and family through this time.
