Finally, A House John McCain Doesn't Own

Donald Trump is off the hook. Someone else has stepped up and is buying Ed McMahon's house.
Ed Mahon: Click to launch
Ed has been dogged by his L.A. mansion, which was sitting on the brink of foreclosure. Last week, Donald said he would help the man he admired by buying the property. Ed's realtor, Alex Davis, tells us Trump actually made a written offer but was outbid.

Ed's rep says the buyer surfaced last week, after Trump got all that publicity. We're told escrow opened yesterday but it's still not a done deal.

As for who's buying the house, the out-of-state buyer wants confidentiality. However, Ed's rep says it's not John McCain.

And we just got this statement from The Donald: "...The other buyer has signed a purchase agreement....subject to many contingencies including but not limited to a mortgage contingency. Mr. Trump clearly would not need a mortgage and would be capable of closing this transaction immediately. If the other buyer should be successful in this bid, Mr. Trump truly hopes that they do the right thing by Ed McMahon and not have this 85-year-old American icon removed from the property."

So here's the question -- If Donald really wants Ed to stay in the house, why didn't he just outbid the buyer?

46. If John McCain is too stupid or too out of touch to even know how many houses he has, he has no business running for president. He always seems to need a nap, and he reads everything he says. can't he remember anything? What a loser.

47. I think people are dumping on John McCain for one reason. He is a boring idiot who would be a worst president than Bush. We don't need a wheezing old geezer napping during a national crisis or forgetting which of his 100 houses bought he is currently nodding off in. The man practically writes his own insults when he is stupid enough to not know how many houses he has.

48. ED still has to pay for the up keep of the home, utility bills alone have to enormous,
All I see is the guy needing more help soon.
I think he should down size and not try to live in the mansion.

49. 60 years of hard work....gone....what has he done to himself (or should we ask the wife instead....) Too bad! He's in his golden years and should be living a relaxed, retired life enjoying the fruits of his labour...Then comes the Trump...good intentions to help??? I don't think so!!! He's just doing it for more free publicity....he's so much into himself...he may be a "billionaire" as he claims it to be...but he has no class at all....Respect? Well he has to earn it....Dignity? Trump cannot buy it.....

To Mr. McMahon - Hope you can still say at the end that you are happy after all these problems that has beset you today. Good luck!

50. McCAIN has investment homes SO WHAT !!!!!!! Doesn't that say he is good with finances ? Obama got his "MANSION" and adjacent property from a convicted Felon. Joe Biden ? I thought Obama was against Washington insiders. In Biden's own words (providing he didn't plagarize as he has been caught doing in the past) "Obama is not ready to be President." Biden's son is a lobbyist in Washington while McCain's son seves in Iraq." How many of you liberals know that McCain not only has a son serving in Iraq but also has an adopted black child ?

51. Trump is no stranger to the market and most likey made an offer based on the neighborhood standard. That being said, He is not going to go over said price. Where he trumps the other bidder is that he shear financial wealth allows him to cut the check that second. Trump knows [ in a grisly sort of plotting manner] that Ed does not have long and the he'll get valued property for beans and sell it in 5 years for 8x the price.

Well, that is if the Republicans don't set off a nuke in some city or further damage the economy.
