33. OK, I am choosing to play Pollyanna with this one. Frankly, if it weren't for Trump (whether out of the goodness of his heart OR being a publicity seeker) making the offer he did, then perhaps the new buyer would not have countered. It was likely offered just to say he outbid the Donald. Whatever, at least McMahon was able to unload the house. Indirectly, he has Trump to thank for it. And maybe he knows he doesn't deserve to stay in the house since he couldn't control his and his wife's spending and has come to terms with having to live more realistically. I know--I need to lose the rose colored glasses probably, huh??

34. Here is the deal (in my opinion). Donald made a bid to help out Ed AND allow him to still live in the home. But Ed was too greedy and instead ACCEPTED (he could have denied) the second offer. He took the second offer for more money. A slap in Trump's face. So Trump did not bid again. Ed failed to look at the big picture. Trump, although paying less, would have allowed Ed to still live there. But since Ed was looking a gift horse in the mouth and instead took a higher bid, now Ed has to wait for all the contingincies to clear and may face having to move out. Trumps deal was a sure thing. This second bid is higher, but to many complications. Since Ed still took the bigger bid, Trump backed off. Apparently Ed was gracious. It is all clear by the statement given by Trump's camp.

here is the Deal, Ed is in his situation through his own negligence, his wife is a shopaholic, no way Ed should have a mortgage at 85 years old and all his past glory and money, it is his own fault pure and simple

Donald Trump is a sharp businessman, but charitable he is not. He did this for the fame, exposure and free publicity, and it worked, How many news stories have you seen with Trumps name splashed all over them? This would be at least 10 million dollars of free publicity, he is sly like a fox. He wanted to get the house for cheap but getting the house was not the goal..............his goal was the free publicity saying DONALD TRUMP IS A GOOD CHARITABLE GUY SAVING ED MACMAHON FROM BEING THROWN OUT. he got what he wanted. As soon as another buyer stepped in, he saw no reason to get into a bidding war, since he was never trying to help Ed in the first place.

Now for those of you who say, Donald was willing to led Ed stay in the house. Sure, he was going to LEASE it to him, big deal. Is he letting him stay for free? no way. So where is the charity? Buyinng a house is charity? its a business deal

If Ed fell behind on the lease do you think Charitable Donald would have let him stay? no way. He is a businessman, shrewd and ruthless, Do you think he got three billion dollars from letting tenants stay for free?

I mean since the offer was private he could have offered 500,000 dollars for the 5 million dollar house and we would never know...........................and anyone with ANY offer would have outbid him, easily, and he could simply walk away, chuckling about all the free publicity he got.............like he is doing now....................he didnt have to spend a dime and he got his name splashed over every newspaper in the country for about 10 days as a GOOD CHARITABLE DONALD TRUMP...................................hey thats what we call a public relations COUP

40. Donald's mistake was not offering to lease Ed his own house. Any man with an ounce of pride would have refused such a silly offer. Donald's mistake was canceling his damn Larry King appearance b/c he assumed that's why we wanted to watch.

41. First of all, I really doubt The Donald owes Ed a place to live. W/that said, and if someone has bought the house (what w/its mold problem and all) let them have it. It seems Ed can't afford it anyway since he's unable to work and given the fact that he's well in to his 80s and must have never saved any money. Finally, if The Donald still wants to help Ed out, why not simply rent him a much smaller home? Who's going to pay the the insurance and monthly upkeep regardless of where Ed lives? The Donald? It's time to downsize, Ed, your life in Beverly Hills is no longer affordable for you. Furthermore, what's Ed's wife doing? Does she work and/or attempt to help out the problem or is she busy shopping on Rodeo Drive all day?
