Oh Hell Taekwon-No!

Being a sore sport doesn't even begin to cover this one. Cuba's Angel Matos deliberately kicked a referee in the face after the ref disqualified him in a bronze-medal match today.

Matos had been hurt during his round of fighting, and he was disqualified for taking too much time to recover. Pissed off, Matos rebounded from his injury pretty quick -- whacking the ref square in the face with his foot. The World Taekwondo Federation has recommended he be banned for life.

18. I think the ref made a bad call but he should have waited to complain on the ref's call later and things probrobly would have went in his favor, he choose to take matters in his own hands and now has lost out on everything.

20. "People should think about all the details before they make judgment."

We know all the details. He agreed to play by the rules. The rules are you get one minute of time to deal with an injury during a match. He knew this in advance. He broke the rules and was justifiably disqualified.

According to your logic crybabies should get second chances. Ummm, no.

21. I am happy to read this guy is banned FOR LIFE. He deserves it. If you have a problem with a refs call, you handle it in the appropriate manner. You don't just kick the guy in the face. His career is over and it's his own fault. YEA!!!!!!

22. What a cowardly act! He might have injured the ref for life; we don't know about the internal injuries.

Cuba has quite an ambassador!

The coward has cornflakes for brains!

24. Another example of an ignorant communist puppet. His stature in his pathetic society has left him with a warped sense of entitlement and the arrogance that goes with it. The only world that he's ever known has just ended with one swift kick. He probably knows nothing except Taekwondo and will most likely wash up on a Florida beach very soon. Another leech on the backside of Taxpayer, U.S.A.

25. To bad for his short temper and the way he handled it but I do wonder what it would feel like to kick a douche bag ref. It was a medal match for crying out loud.

26. LMAO, I have to say this... He was giving the ref an up close and personal view of his toe. I'll remember that move next time someone pisses me off. Well said on the "Toe jam surprise"!

29. Anyone who knows anything about martial arts knows that it teaches self discipline. This man obviously wasn't trained very well, or he would have never lost it like that. What a disgrace to himself, his sport, and his country. He deserved to be banned from the sport forever, and he should also be arrested on assault charges. What he did was juvenile and despicable.

30. This is the most disgusting display of sportsmanship! He should be banned for life. As a mother of a child who competes on the junior national circuit I can tell you the judging was horrendous...as should be looked into in many matches. This guy probably should not be disqualified because he stood up as the time ran out and was ready to move on BUT you never assault a judge or anyone else. You file a grievance and move on. It sucks but it happens in major and minor competitions. But beyond that...this sport is about honor and respect above all! He should have his black belt revoked! He broke one of the basic tenents of the sport. Shame on him!
