Celebrity Justice
Mackenzie Phillips -- I'm Healthy Except For ...

TMZ has obtained a copy of the police report written after Mackenzie Phillips' arrest. The sad headline ... when Phillips was strip-searched, an officer noticed track marks on both her arms and asked if she was a diabetic. According to the report, Phillips responded, "No, I am healthy except for my drug problem."

The doc details what TMZ reported earlier today. When Phillips was stopped at the screening station at LAX, she "was continually moving" as TSA employees searched around her pelvic area. Phillips then sat down as the search continued, and, according to the report, "a plastic bag containing an [unknown] white substance later identified and tested...positive for cocaine fell down her right pant leg."

Cops then found heroin and other paraphernalia, when "Phillips then spontaneously said "I'm holding" -- slang for saying she has drugs.

51. Unless you have been an addict, it is very difficult to truly understand the disease. All that can be done for Mac at this point is give her support. She's no spring chicken but she does have a lot of years ahead of her...if she is able to beat this and do what it takes to lead a healthy and normal way of life. I really feel for her and I sympathize for her and for her loved ones. I love someone who had addictive tendencies and it is HARD to support someone who suffers from the disease.

52. Her dad not only gave her the easy access to drugs as a child, but also his own genetics. There is a real genetic predisposition factor which can determine whether you can try it and leave it easily or get physically addicted very easily. This is true for all sorts of addictions, including alcohol, other "recreational" drugs, and nicotine.

Addicts are basically "self-medicating" as a way to deal with just plain feeling bad otherwise. Our ability to deal with stress (such as a miserable childhood as well as more current stresses) also seems to be genetically based, judging from separated twin studies. So if you never had such a problem - count your lucky stars. Don't judge others until you've had their bodies and their memories for a while... With a little genetic difference, there but for the grace go you.

And those of you who think you don't know anybody who does drugs - dream on. Many people are bingers, and seem functional to others even in their own family when it's definitely affecting their life badly. Luckily, she's definitely not "too old" to recover - people much older than her have successfully done so. Relapses are not uncommon - just have to go through the recovery process again and hope it sticks this time.

54. Why would they ask her if she is Daibetic because of her track marks? Insulin is given Sub-Q ( barely under the skin) with a very tiny needle. It's not injected into a muscle (IM) or a vein (IV), It would be impossible to leave track marks....maybe a small bruise. Hopefully the cop knew better than that and was just trying to be tactful.

55. This is a really sad story. Like most posters, I grew up watching her on a show ironically titled "One Day At A Time". Seemed like she left the heroin behind and pulled herself together for a while. Sorry to see her back in heroin hell. At least she acknowledges her problem. I wish her luck and hope she gets her life back together again.

Tatum O'Neil was "preparing for a role". That girl is a total wreck.

60. Phillips is the epitome of "disease theory" policy. Now, she'll go back to rehab because both AA and "treatment" teach that she is suffering from a "chronic disease of spontaneous relapse." And Phillips "proves" this repeatedly. Can anyone say, "Self-fufilling prophecy?" Nevertheless, Phillips will be "re-treated" with the same disease theory, 12-step treatment she's received in the past....and all to minimal sobriety success. There are viable alternatives to all this. Simply do a search under, "Addiction treatment alternatives," or "Alternatives to AA," or "Alternatives to 12-steps." People need to know of their options. This is a matter of life and death and resorting the teachings of AA as the main "recovery tool" for our addicted masses is the problem, not the solution. The goal is to become sober, healthy and happy. Simply stated, there are ways to achieve this other than through AA and "treatment." Phillips has not failed "the program;" it is this largely ineffective addiction treatment "program" that fails to help most people achieve any type of long lasting sobriety...
