94. If you say something positive about Palin and are well-written and lucid, TMZ will delete your post. Keep in mind; this is not serious journalism striving for unbiased reporting (does that even exist anymore?). Their stand on this is so obvious from their posting that it's ridiculous. Don't expect gossip rags to allow free, unfettered speech unless it agrees with them.

98. All you Obamabots can laugh all you want to - as a woman, and a Republican, I think this was a BRILLIANT choice. I think Sarah is great and I hope she rips Biden a new a$$ in the debates. Think about it: Obama has NO EXPERIENCE, so he picks Biden, who has at least been on some foreign relations committees. That balances him out SOMEWHAT. McCain has much more experience than Obama, so he picks someone who brings OTHER attributes to the table. I truly believe that whatever experience this woman is now lacking will be made up for shortly. She's probably being briefed and schooled (if she needs it) even as we speak. I'd put her up against any man, any day. She seems like a DAMN quick study, and the people I have seen and spoken to are THRILLED she was the pick. She has energized the party, and I'm going to volunteer.

104. To #71: Alaska doesn't have to pay people to live in the state. The PFD (Permanent Fund Dividend) checks that go out each year only offset the fact that the cost of living is incredibly high. Fuel costs, especially in Interior Alaska, are astronomical, and because almost everything is imported, it affects all commodities. Even the $1200 per person energy rebate they'll receive will quickly be swallowed up by oil furnaces. (A lot of it will be swallowed up in the form of taxes before it ever makes it to the furnaces.)

I don't think people who live in Alaska do so because of a PFD check. Aside from some who get stationed there by the military, most Alaskans live there because they love Alaska. Being able to adapt and thrive in Alaska's extremes is a great source of pride. Not everyone can do it. Not everyone wants to. But no one is hanging around through all those extremes just to get a PFD check (which varies in amount from year to year).

Sarah Palin is a true Alaskan and as governor has done good things for the state, like sell off the jet her predecessor bought with state funds (for his personal use) on eBay. If she does become VP, I hope she'll be allowed to continue dealing with nonsensical things like that. However, I think she'll ultimately be just another puppet in the Good Ol' Boys regime.
