Celebrity Pay Dirt
Ed McMahon -- S.O.L. Again

Ed McMahonWe've confirmed the guy who went into escrow to buy Ed McMahon's house has pulled out of the deal.

We're told the buyer never came up with any cash ... which means the whole thing sounds phony. The escrow was opened without a deposit, but the buyer never put his money where his mouth was.

So that leaves Ed with no place to live if the house does go into foreclosure ... which again leads to the doorstep of Donald Trump. Trump has said he'd step in again and buy the house and lease it back to Ed for life. Our sources say Donald has offered a low ball offer already, but that's it.

We're told Trump has had discussions with Ed's realtor, Alex Davis, since the deal fell apart last Thursday. Will Donald save the day or is this a publicity stunt? We know the stumbling block with Trump is price -- he hasn't offered what Ed wants/needs to get the monkeys off his back.

16. SO SAD ABOUT ED LOSING HIS MULTI MILLION DOLLAR HOME WHICH IS NOT PAID FOR AT HIS ADVANCED AGE! THINGS WILL SOON WORK OUT FOR HIM WHEN WIFE LEAVES HIS BROKE ASS. WHAT HAPPENED TO SAVING FOR RETIREMENT? HE IS WAY BEYOND THAT!! HOPE HE CAN LIVE ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE. MAYBE QUALIFY FOR FOOD STAMPS!!

17. Amazing. All these comments made by people who have never met Trump or McMahon. Their only knowledge of same is
reading this comic book staffed by bunch of high school dropouts led by a "lawyer" (check with his peers...this guy is a flake). Sound advice.

18. At first, I was very pro The Donald helping Ed out, but now I hope The Don just tells them all to go jump in the lake. It seems Ed wants to have his cake and eat it too. It may simply be best to let the house go and Ed should have downsized into an apartment years ago. What is Ed's wife doing to help out the situation or is she too busy shopping and just assumes one of Ed's rich friends will come to their rescue? After all of Ed's years of work with NBC, Star Search, Bloopers/Jokes and all of those commercial endorsements, he never saved any money or his high and mighty wife spent it all? Finally, with all of the years Ed helped Jerry Lewis with his telethon, why doesn't Jerry offer to pay for an apartment for his so-called friend? My how quick Hollywood turns their back when one of their own is down on their luck. Let's see, you have the Hanks, the Travoltas, the Spielbergs just to name a few mega-wealthy couples and no one is willing to help out? Where's the widow Carson and why isn't she doing anything? I am quite sure many of these so-called power couples must have a spare home they are not using like out in Malibu or Palm Springs, right? First off, I'd tell that wife of his to get her ass to work as going on Larry King isn't putting a roof over their heads.

19. Dump sent in his buddy to put in bs offer to get his low ball offer accepted. Dump is a expert on how to ripoff
the banks. The bank takes the loss. Dump gets Park Place at 1970 prices. Ed will praise Dump. Then pass away.
Dump the carpet bagger will win, win, win.

20. Firstly
Trump is a business man

Secondly
he is a humanitarian

By getting a great deal he can afford to let Ed live there until he dies
and Ed isn't very young-so it might not be a lot of years involved

AND I don't see anyone else stepping up so don't knock THE DONALD!!

now ---letting Ed's wife live there until she dies is a whole other matter...............................

To me it's better that Trump buys the place at a great deal-and flips it for a good profit when the housing market improves and I would like to see him buy Ed a small home-like only about 500 thousand-nice but affordable for them to keep up and then Ed will not worry about his wife being left homeless when he dies-nobody else is giong to be concerned abut her fate if they feel she is responsible for his financial downfall

did ED really think she married him for love?

to live anywhere near that area I'm sure that half a million won't buy much-but if it's a home like most of us live in with 1 bathroom and a small yard-it should do well for senior with financial problems

nobody is offering anything to the rest of us who accidentally overextended ourselves-so Trump is decent to help out-even if it's done only as a business deal!

21. I agree with most comments above. Ed had his chance to accept Donald's offer of help and instead tried to get more money out of the deal. Now that the second deal fell through Donald should either pull out entirely or buy the house as an investment and kick Ed the hell out.

22. ed.. you can live in the house for up to 18 months with no payments.. Don't you read to the stuff on the web...this is the standard in todays REO's. Why not join the deadbeat club.....tell Angelo you just can't pay him..

23. Ed and his wife are no different than millions of other couples struggling to stay afloat in this economy. Think of all the young couples with children whose property is being foreclosed. Where will they live??? Who will come to their rescue??? Ed and his wife are no better; in fact, they have been able to live in a "mansion" and enjoy the "high life" all these years....can't say that about the rest of struggling Americans!

24. Look, my daddy already tried to help Mr. Ed once, he accepted a higher offer without a deposit, knowing he would have to move out if the "better" deal went through. So now that "buyer" has turned out to be a fraud, so my daddy has to step back in again? Mr. Ed had his chance, and besides I need some new shoes.

26. Ed's living in a Fool's Paradise if he expects anyone to bail him out completely financially. So if Trump low balls a figure and comes out with a good piece of real estate at the end - good for Trump. All Ed would have to do is make smaller rent payments based on a smaller (low ball) smaller property sale price.

Beggers can't be choosers, and Ed's being too choosey, too greedy. He's going to find himself out in the streets with no place to go because of his (and the missus') greed.

Keep doing all those voice-overs and TV commercials Ed, they're helping to pay your sea of red ink down. And as far as his gold digging wife is concerned, since there is no more gold to mine, she needs to get off her padded @ss and actually WORK! Millions of women hold down jobs to help make ends meet.

27. Rosie O Donnel should buy it

28. I think Trump set him up. I agree that Ed did not manage well and he needs no mansion to live in. Someone should offer him a 2 bedroom place to live in. What a shame that for someone who was on a popular talk show for so many years this is where he got - all due to his own mismanagement.

29. If Johnny were still alive, that house would have been paid for at the first sign of trouble. Plus, Carson would have done it without any publicity
