Suspect Named in Murder of Ashton's Ex

Ashton KutcherPolice have used DNA to link a man to the 2001 murder of Ashley Ellerin -- who happened to be dating Ashton Kutcher at the time of her death.

The story goes like this: Back in the pre-Demi days, Kutcher told police he went to pick up Ellerin for a post-Grammy party, but she didn't answer the door. He looked through a back window and saw what he thought were red wine stains on the carpet. He eventually left.

Those weren't wine stains and her body was discovered the next day by a friend.

Michael Gargiulo has been in custody since June for attempted murder of another woman. That's when DNA tests were used to link him to several murders, including Ellerin's.

Gargiulo's lawyer, Anthony V. Salerno, says he has not been charged in Ellerin's murder, but admits he's the prime suspect.

49. Maybe Ashton is a son of Demi's that she gave up and no one knew about it and there wasn't anyway to explain this young man in her life oother than to say they are an item lol....wierder things have happened........and the plot thickens.

I'm all for women dating younger but not someone who should be dating your daughters good grief!

52. I think it sounds odd too, although all of us are operating from "after the fact". We know she dies. It's easy to be suspicious of a story when the story is only a story because someone died. He didn't kwow what we know now. People never think it's going to happen to them, some people don't think "oh my god, that looks like red wine on the floor, I better call 911!!!" That only happens on TV... You all need to stop watching so much Forensic Files and be careful of being too judgmental. There is ALWAYS more to the story.

59. It says he "eventually left." Who's to say what he did in that time? Eventually implies that he didn't just immediately book-it. Maybe he tried to get in, and couldn't? As far as the wine stains... maybe he thought she got a little tipsy... and that's why she didn't come? maybe he thought she was passed out? Maybe not. Who knows. Certainly not us. So who are we to accuse him of something? If the police thought he looked guilty, they would have done something about it.

What if she is a known drinker...and he was tired of dealing with her being drunk all the time..he shows up..sees what looks to be red wine on the floor and doesnt feel like dealing with a drunk GF tonight.
