362. Wow!!! NOW THIS IS TRULY CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN, as opposed to a bunch of partisan rhetoric and sound bites. She’s young, she’s attractive, she’s articulate, she’s ethical and most importantly she seems to be ONE OF US, and not a stuffed shirt from inside the beltway. Any more, the only difference between Republicans and Democrats is about the same difference that there is between Coke and Pepsi. I believe that John McCain hit a home run with his selection of Sarah Palin as his choice for VP. She seems to be very intelligent and she will be groomed for the Presidency by an experienced statesman, an expert on foreign and military affairs, a national hero and an independent thinker who is not influenced by the special interest lobbyists. In addition, I’m sure that John McCain will surround himself (and his VP) with very qualified advisors and an experienced cabinet, so she will with out a doubt, be prepared to be OUR FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT when that time comes. This is supposed to be a government “by the people, for the people,” and we certainly need new blood in Washington. GREAT CHOICE JOHN MCCAIN!

365. Im confused because i thought *change* was Obamas slant? How come McCain cant think of anything original? I think the choice of Ms Palin was meant to take the focus off the real issues (as in the republicans don't have a clue) so people are so busy trying to figure out who the hell SHE is that they might forget the more important questions.
McCain you said you wouldnt let me down-You have now. I'll NEVER vote for you now.
My grandmother is voting Democrat now and she used to be a big mccain fan.
The republican supporters dont sound very happy, i think a lot of their nasty comments reflect a real concern that they are screwed more than a true belief in Ms Palin.

369. McCain had to pick someone else other than his choice, Joe Lieberman. This was a Karl Rove move to pick a religious, right to life, "family values", woman. Republicans always preach family values, but they seem to have more sex scandals, especially gay ones! Although I agree, teenage pregnancy can happen in most families, it should not happen in families that are running for any high office. They are supposssed to be an example, but hey, when you don't believe in birth control, try to preach abstinence, ban books from the library, believe in creationism and not evolution science, and don't have any time to be at home with your kids when they need you most, (ages 5-18 years), well, I guess this is what happens. Thats also what happens when you have a baby beyond 40 years old. You are taking a large risk of giving birth to a Down Syndrome baby. This kid Levi, is flung into the national spotlight now, and he is just a young, immature f****ing redneck, like he writes on his myspace page. Now he will be forced into a shotgun wedding. Those marriages never work! People...this is why condoms work, more people should use them!

371. Looks like the Republicans are getting a convention "bounce" in the polls. It's the HOOKER EFFECT. It's nothing but nostalgia. It tends to last about a week or possibly two if it's not based on issues and leadership of a clear cause. McCain/Palin is neither.

WOW ARE THE REPUBLICANS DESPERATE THIS TIME AROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!! They don't have a leader to offer, so we're getting diversion after diversion. McCain and Palin are wipeouts!

Something tells me the Republicans will pull out their old team of degenerate campaign PR team and we're going to get nothing but idiotic Karl Rove, Paul Wolfowitz, Bush speech writers, negative attack ads, nothing but diversion after diversion, nothing about what the Republicans have to offer AND DEFINATELY nothing about the topic of leadership and styles of management. The Republicans will not talk about how they make decisions, because they have no idea. McCain isn't leadership material and the entrenched Republican banker, military-industrial, Mossad, corporate tie-ins will not let McCain take things out of the trench they are in now, of privatizing government for the benefit of those identities.

Has anyone noticed that McCain is becoming scarce? Where is the coverage about the Republican candidate for President of the United States? THE HOOKER EFFECT is all the Republicans have to offer! In that case, I'd suggest they walk Palin around in a bikini and she can strip for the nation. Pick good music. McCain can get a bounce all on his own.

Newsweek’s Michael Isikoff reports that Iraq war architect Paul Wolfowitz has been rewarded with a new position in the Bush administration which will allow him to oversee classified intelligence and inform policies on WMD issues:

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has offered Wolfowitz, a prime architect of the Iraq War, a position as chairman of the International Security Advisory Board, a prestigious State Department panel, according to two department sources who declined to be identified discussing personnel matters. The 18-member panel, which has access to highly classified intelligence, advises Rice on disarmament, nuclear proliferation, WMD issues and other matters. “We think he is well suited and will do an excellent job,” said one senior official.

Prior to the Iraq war, Wolfowitz established the Office of Special Plans in the Pentagon to skirt the intelligence community and peddle the most egregiously false claims of Iraqi WMD. In a Jan. 2003 speech, Wolfowitz referenced “Iraqi efforts to procure uranium from abroad” despite the fact that the claim had already been discredited by the CIA. A few months after the Iraq invasion was launched, Wolfowitz admitted that claims of Iraqi WMD was used as a political tool to achieve consensus for the war:

The truth is that, for reasons that have a lot to do with the U.S. government bureaucracy, we settled on the one issue that everyone could agree on which was weapons of mass destruction as the core reason [to go to war].

When Wolfowitz left the World Bank in disgrace and landed at the American Enterprise Institute, he said he was leaving “open the possibility of rejoining the government.” Brookings analyst Philip Gordon speculated at the time that “the need for Senate confirmation would be a big political obstacle” for Wolfowitz to be named to another senior government post. Laura Rozen notes, however, that Wolfowitz’s new position “doesn’t require Senate confirmation.”

Paul Wolfowitz’s career continues to shine as a stunning example of what Paul Krugman has called the “comprehensiveness and generosity of the neocon welfare system.”
