34. Hey Scotty (#13)--Barack's parents were married from Feb. 1961 until Jan. 1964. They got married when she was already pregnant.
It's all very easy to check through vital statistics records, and it has all been verified already by a variety of news sources.
Why not just stick with the issues instead of spreading false rumors.

37. Come on, people. Do a little reading (not blogs but real reading) and educate yourselves. There is a long cultural history that explains the use of the term "African American" and it doesn't have anything to do with black people trying to separate themselves from other Americans. Quite the contrary. The term came about back when people were segregated and black people were referred to by extremely derogatory names. It was regularly asserted by the mainstream population (people who were not black) that black people were not American, were not part of real American society.
As more and more black people fought for respect and equality, one of the things that came about was a demand for derogatory terms to stop (many of which are still used today). The birth of the term African American was designed to emphasize the right to be included as an American, not a desire to emphasize one's Africanness.
A similar cultural history surrounds the term Asian American. It was a more palatable alternative to some of the derogatory terms being used for people of Asian descent (like Jap, Nip, Coolie, Chink, etc.). Asian American was a term meant to emphasize inclusion as an American.
Like it or not, these terms arose as an effort to assert one's Americanness, not the other way around.
As for Obama being half-white and some people claiming that he is only being called black to get black votes.......again you might try learning your history. Ever heard of the one drop rule? For centuries anyone with any black blood at all was considered "tainted." Ever read the book "The Human Stain"? Society is what puts the "black" label on anyone who looks the part and has any black blood. That is history. When Barack was a kid going to school, do you think other kids were thinking, "There goes a white kid."? Of course not.
Educate yourselves before spouting off so much ignorance.
