Republicans Lack Heart!

Ann and Nancy Wilson are pissed at the Republican Party and have fired off a cease and desist letter to the McCain/Palin campaign.

Specifically, the Heart women are upset that the GOP has used their classic "Barracuda" as a theme song for Sarah Palin. TMZ obtained a statement from Heart's rep, who says "The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission."

The statement goes on: "We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We hope our wishes will be honored."

We're told Ann was watching TV today and heard the song at the convention when Palin was touted.

UPDATE
: Twenty minutes after we posted this story, the GOP ended the evening after McCain's speech with the song, "Barracuda."

Stay tuned.

77. I'm gonna vote for McCain/Palin. Obama is an inexperienced clown.

78. Who the hell cares what they think. They should be thankful. It was already announced that permission is not required to play any songs!!!

79. i didn't know that they have to have permission for every song that is played. if the song was purchased, not illegally downloaded, what's the problem? does an artists permission have to be asked if it can be used every time a song is played? cause i just had a huge party at my house, played a bunch of different music, and didn't ask a damn soul's permission!

80. ummm, Jack Marshall? congratulations but you have just proven how massively ignorant you are. Music belongs TO THE ARTISTS WHO CREATE IT. That is why they get paid for it. If Heart despises the Republican party and all the hate and ignorance it stands for they have every right to demand that they stop stealing their music.

81. Heartless - Maybe you want your song affiliated with oil funded religious zealots and a continuation of the Bush years?

These incredibly successful artists have every right to object to a bunch of old white folks ruining their song for generations to come by associating it with snarky, thoughtless, warmongering Republicans.

And Steve, isn't it within the Wilsons' rights, or freedom of speech, to counter the idea that they endorse the craziness going on in Minnesota?

82. The democrats are such bitter people, I'm gonna pray for them.

83. Of course Palin and McCain did well, Sara---anyone who isn't biased and blind could tell that, and you don't have to be a supporter or a Republican to be able to admit when people do well at a tough task. The silly over-confidence and lack of respect for legitimate and capable opponants is likely to do in the Democrats, as it has in the past. If you can't tell when your adversaries do well, you don't notice when they're beating you. Now, THAT'S stupid. Try listening to people you diagree with---you might learn something. And clearly you need to learn SOMEthing.

84. Who are they? I've never heard of them. Looking for free publicity are they? And, from the man who was a captive in a war to preserve their freedom. They seem to be looking for fame when they had none.

85. Ann and Nancy Wilson are two of the most talented women in rock history. They were influential songwriters and musicians. You pathetic, illiterate, redneck morons have reduced two of the most bad assed, trailblazing, rock n roll women in history to a pathetic fat joke. Here's my advice to you all. Go to the library. There are these square shaped things with pages in them, commonly known to thinking humans as books. Read some of those books and try to form your own, individual thoughts and opinions. If it's too hard (as it can be for newcomers to literacy, like pre-schoolers) try a newspaper. It has lots of information and even has pictures, which can help you idiots along when it is hard to understand.

Or, you could all go watch Paris Hilton talk about what's hot. I'm sure that's what you will do because you are mindless, shallow, insipid, pathetic cows who let others do the thinkin for you and follow the herd. Go spend $2,000.00 on a handbag or some rims for the car daddy bought you while people starve to death in your backyard.

86. HEART must have ran out of twinkie money. Now they're hitting the RNC up. Hey why hasn't somebody hit Obama up ? He played, "There coming to take me away HA HA, There coming to take me away HO HO, he he haa haa to the funny farm, where Oprah , P Diddy, & the clintons are There coming to take me away HA HAAAAAAAAA !!! Seriously, you all know Obama has 0- ZERO no leadership experience. Just movie star & Oprahs money behind him. He is the anti-crist.... try reading the bible & get back to me....

Posted at 6:28PM on Sep 5th 2008 by Obama - NOT !!!!

87. Sara, the artists sell the rights to their music in exchange for money, try to keep up dear. Are you really that uneducated?

88. Copyright law is extremely convoluted regarding "fair use". Heart can sue the McCain campaign, but they probably won't win, because it's a non-profit entity.

89. oh Jack Marshall, you really are a sad case, aren't you? Keep on believing the lies. Anyone with a functioning brain can see through them. Too bad you don't qualify.
