Brand Blasted for Cherry Pickin'

The Jonas Brothers all wear purity rings -- but VMA host Russell Brand got in some serious hot water with his extremely impure jokes about the Disney virgins.
Russell Brand: Click to watch
Humorless "Idol" champ Jordin Sparks ('memba her!?) defended the boys after Brand bragged he'd bag 'em all by the end of the night. Hope he stayed away from Nick -- that kid's only 15!

241. Russell Brand was the only reason to watch the VMAs. Long gone are the days you actually expect to see talent. A few great performances this year but why everyone is so upset about Russell’s comments about Bush is beyond me. He said nothing that 72% of Americans aren’t alredy saying, he IS British, which gives him as nearly as much in it as Americans seeing as he possibly has relatives or friends risking their lives in the Bush War, he lives in LA (does this make him a tax-payer?). I don’t remember all this flack when Sarah rode Paris into the ground before she went to jail. Who cares what he said - he was there only as a last ditch effort to salvage the ever-pukified VMAs, and to be controversial - which he has built his entire career on in the UK. As for the Jonas Brothers - they ought to stick to the Disney Channel and be in beddy-bye anyway.

242. Jordin Sparks remark about people who dont wear promises rings as being sluts and whores was really messed who is she to talk about people like that. She had no reason to put down anyone like that if anyone should be banned from the VMAs and very other music show it is people like that. Way to go sparks you most likely wont be getting any awards that we the people chose the winner.

244. uh... it's MTV, not especially known for their upper crust entertainment standards. I would imagine right about now in the MTV board room they are thinking to themselves, " I wonder why the show tanked"?? And not really know. As to the Brand guy, have never heard of him, and don't expect to after this. The remark about "Retarded American cowboy" as president showed great political insight, too bad it was accompanied by hate speech for the challenged. See there, europeans, some of us do know right from wrong....

245. I was more offended by what Jordin said than anything Brand said. She basically called anyone who has had sex a slut. Maybe she was trying to be brave and cute and stand up for America's little sweethearts, but she should have put a little more thought into what she wanted to say before she let it spew out of her mouth. I liked Russell.

246. Jenny G from Dublin (commentor # 10), how is it racism if the guy is white? Where do you get off saying the US is racist? This country gives to EVERYONE, it is our nature. She was talking about idiots not from this country not having any right to say anything about our government. If I am to assume that your Dublin is Ireland, that includes you.

I have not watched MTV for years because of incidents such as this. It doesn't surprise me. I am, however, pleasantly surprised that most people commenting here agree that this is just trash. If you are a host on an awards show, do your job, don't use it as a place to trash people, their beliefs, or their country.

247. Can't MTV do better than this greasy, ignorant, fool? Classic example of Eurotrash.

248. Russel Brand was awful.
He made a complete fool out of himself.
Jordan Sparks was right to say that.
Russel was an Idiot for thinking he could get away with what he said.
Disney is gonna come after him.

What an idiot

249. Who is this worthless turd? And who cares what he thinks. Is he even an American citizen?

250. Brand was on point, entertaining and quite funny to boot.

Nothing he said was offensive in nature and if the Jonas boys can't take a good ribbing with all the money and success, I have even less respect for them than I did before.

Everything Brand said about the U.S. needing to elect Obama was dead on and accurate as well.

The rest of the world at large has had enough of war mongering mental midget's like Bush running rough shod over the rest of the globe.

Wake up people and realize that the world is bigger than your window pane.

How interesting that in the land of supposed free speech, we only want certain people to have it.

Something to think about.

251. To those of you who were offended by RB's "comedy", you may want to spend your time and money with companies that promote life values and beliefs closer to yours in their attempt to entertain. The current media/entertainment industry, especially most comedians and comedy writers, appear to have a "do no touch" list. The list includes : Blacks, Middle Easterners, Jews, Gay/Lesbian/Transgender, Muslims, and anyone who agrees with the far left liberal viewpoint and lifestyle. Everyone else is pretty much fair game in their attempt at "humor". If you're not on that list don't spend your time or money watching or listening to the entertainment venues that will only insult you. I believe that the JB were invited on purpose so they would have someone to ridicule. MTV is for people who live and think differently from you, let them watch and support MTV, if there are enough people that mirror MTV's viewpoints then it will survive, if not...oh well. Stay true to yourselves.

252. Russell Brand is a comedian... He's friggin hilarious and quick witted, this however was not one of his best nights.. He was obviously trying to play to an American audience.. making his jokes about bush, the jonas bros, and such. If you take his remarks seriously, youre a fool. Tis Comedy you nubs.

253. Being English myself, I personally felt sooo embaresed that some un-educated hippy (who obviously has never taken his vote or politics seriously) could come on stage and immidiately go into to some political tirade at a music event. Can anyone tell me what Bush or Brandt for that matter have to do with the VMA awards ??
ps. Don't let a wanker like that do that again MTV, you will surely regret it !

pps. What was up with that weird grimace that Brandt gave at the end of each of his barrel scraping rants ?? ??? I suspect bad drugs if you ask me ! God help him if the wind changed !!

255. Anyone who thought Russell Brand's comments were funny or good is a complete idiot! He went on American tv and pissed on all Americans. You would have to be stupid to clap or laugh at someone, that doesn't know you, calling you a racist. Telling you who to vote for because you are obviously uncapable of making up your own mind. Putting down religious beliefs, and insulting a seventeen year old for being pregnant. Think how many mothers were pregnant at that age. A lot! Come on people if you don't realize that he insulted everyone in America (even you) then you truly are ignorant. And Jordan Sparks was only trying to defend the Jonas Brothers because they were being bashed all night for their beliefs. Sparks wasn't aiming at anyone other than Russell Brand. Think People!
