Search for Evan Turns Up Body

The Imperial County Sheriff's Department went on a frantic search to find former UFC champion Evan Tanner before his body was discovered in the desert yesterday.

Tanner had gone into the California desert, even blogging about his "adventure," saying, "I'm not going out into the desert with a pair of shorts and a bowie knife, to try to live off the land. I'm going fully geared up, and I'm planning on having some fun."

Evan was 37.

16. To #11 tjfrantic, you ask how somebody can run out of water in one day. Easy. They did not take enough. It is not unusal for temperatures to reach 120 degrees in the California deserts. I have no idea who Evan Tanner was but he obviously made a deadly and foolish decision to go into the desert ill prepared for it. Yes it is possible to die extremely fast of dehydration. Without water you die.

21. Let me shed a little light for you all. I am from that area where his body was found and just the fact that he was even out there makes me wonder what type of mindset he was in. That area is prob one of the hardest areas to survive in in the world. Not only does the temperature range anywhere from 100 deg to 125 deg on any given day. No think to yourself how long are you going to last in that type of environment in that type of weather?

22. I have read tanners blog and he seemed to have done these kind of things before. He wanted the quietness and isolation of the desert. He has pictures of his motorcycle on his website (dirtbike) and he was preparing it for such a trip. He had racks etc he was putting on it to carry items.. Does anyone think he may have been smart enough to take plenty of water? Maybe he had an accident and laid down his bike or his some of his water fell off ,either way bursting his water container and leaving himself with not as much water as he planned? I just think running out in less than a day there musta been something that happened to put him in that situation....although i think 99% of the people going into the desert for 3 days or so would run out of water very quickly if you werent in a vehicle. nobody can carry 6-7 gallons of water in 120 degree heat. id say you would need a couple gallons a day easily.

23. I'm so sick of these idiots that do stupid things like go into the desert or climb a mountain unprepared, then the taxpayers take a hit as emergency workers "frantically" search for them. Such a pointless death, but then we rarely see Rhodes scholars in the WWE.

24. Yeah Larue. And rarely do we see scholars on TMZ. Your post is so filled with ignorance, it proves nothing but how common you really are. Sorry this wasn't your usual celebrity affair to keep you entertained by what Posh Spice was last reading. Evan Tanner had absolutely nothing to do with the WWE. The guy was no stranger to adventure but this time, he pushed the odds a little too far.

Fight fan or not, this guy was the utter anti-stereotype, a true diamond in the rough for a sport / fan base / opposition that largely falls into the exact characteristics warranting their labels. Tanner was as real as it gets. He was a fighter by default but more importantly, there wasn't a cheap or dishonest bone in his body. His athleticism was second to his nature and his personality. Whether you know who is or not, at least have the common courtesy to mind your own business or pay your respects. Evan never disrespected anybody and think of how many other people you can really say that about.

You can go on and make your crass comments and fall right back into the shoes that you put on when you read this article; another uneducated and ignorant blog commenter... and no one will care about it except the family and friends he left behind which you are perpetuating their already damaged feelings.
