MTV's Real World Deforestation Challenge

Contrary to the goals of the MTV's current Green Crusade, the most recent MTV "Real World/Road Rules" challenge -- which premiered last week -- seems to pit competing teams against each other in an effort to wreak the most havoc on Panamanian rainforests.

The devastation left behind once the shoot wrapped was described in a recent article from the Tree Climber's Coalition. They say MTV left the formerly pristine area riddled with trash, unstruck sets, and even discarded scripts for the so-called "reality" series.

Apparently when MTV execs see green, they're not looking at the environment.

Calls to MTV were not immediately returned.

19. MTV is a joke anyway.
They have one thing they do well and only one thing. That is voter registration.
Otherwise all is a farce.

20. I can't even take a second to truly be appalled by the actual story here, without some losers turning around and making THIS political too? What the hell is wrong with you people? "I bet they all vote for Obama" You're an idiot. This is an environmental issue, and nothing more. While I am disgusted with MTV for this conduct, I am just as disgusted by the fact that I could possibly be sharing an opinion of this mess with some extremely ignorant people.

28. there really are not any words to describe this. mtv should have more common sence and decency for the enviroment that we all live in. they should have to clean this up, restore it, and issue an apology. I am Absolutely disgusted that they would let this happen.

29. what a shame... it shows that the executives in charge are not really up to the task........someone needs to be fired. you go into another country and yes the exposure helps market the tourism industry in that area but it does not give you the right to simply pack up and leave a mess behind...

i think that all those buildings and junk that was left behind needs to be picked up and cleaned up... that means calling down to the country and sending your mtv executive producer of the show to be there. they need to hire trucks and workers to clean up that mess.. and yes even a metal detector to go around the beach area and clean up things under the sand.

what a shame... thank you to the person that took the photos and allowed us to see what mtv is about......... what a shame and with all the young executives working at that company it sends a very negative message...."we dont give a damm"

this is not simply going to cost you money for the clean-up but you just became an official contributor of funds to that countries environmental groups!!!!! shame on you mtv.....

pretty sad...... is that the message we want to send from the USA....we are pigs and dont care about the environment...
